News::Jazzpunk Review | HAL

Ross Hartley: "It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that throughout this bizarre first-person adventure game, hundreds of gags are being thrown at me at every which turn. Unfortunately, I only laughed once but even then, I didn't exactly fall out of my chair. That's about 10 seconds of enjoyment out of 2 and a half hours of resentment. I respect that Jazzpunk exists but I absolutely despised playing it."

STN: Late last week we were lucky enough to go hands on with the Titanfall Beta build, giving us a look at some early footage before the some lucky members of the general public get hands on later this week. We've got plenty of thoughts on the game of course, but we won't write them here, instead we have put them in video, along with some exclusively recorded gameplay footage. Opinion and gameplay all in one place, aren't we nice?

News::Preview - Titanfall: The most fun you can have without taking your clothes off | ArabicGamers

ArabicGamers writes: Whisper it, but this could - could - be the long-awaited game that finally knocks Call of Duty off the top of the first-person shooter tree. That Activision's behemoth has managed to shift millions upon millions of copies every year despite sticking to the same tired old formula is a resounding success story, but every story has to come to an end sometime. Titanfall could be that end.

News::Review: Gigantic Army

It's the early 21st century and humanity is embroiled in a bitter war with an alien race hellbent on stemming mankind's advance into outer space. You are a mech pilot. You pilot a war machine that's enormous and powerful. Aliens shoot at you, and you are probably going to need to dodge some bullets and shoot back.

It's an age-old story, one that's probably not going to win many accolades, and that's okay. Sometimes it's just fun to bomb around a distant planet and blow up everything in sight.

MMGN writes: Early impressions of Lords of Shadow 2 bring back fond memories of classics embedded in the hack-and-slash genre. Those behind the game might resent comparisons to the likes of God of War, but its tough not to shine a light on the obvious similarities present in Draculas upcoming outing. Thankfully, with a stronger focus on adventure and exploration, that obvious but perhaps unintentional ode deviates from MercurySteams core Castlevania interpretation, propelling a strong sense of originality and challenge.

News::Pre-order Dark Souls II for more starter weapons

Early purchases of Dark Souls II will come with a voucher for the "Black Armor Weapons Pack" containing five weapons and shields (find the item descriptions below) which players can make use of at the beginning of the game. At first glance, this sounds dreadful.

However, these items are by no means exclusive -- you'll be able to find them later on in Dark Souls II without the voucher. So while I'm still not a fan of this approach, I can see the value in letting new players take any advantage they can get. From the sound of it, they'll need it.

Besides, it'll be easy for the rest of us to pass up this equipment until we find it naturally.

News::Guise of the Wolf Review Beast of Burdens | Twinfinite

Chaz at Twinfinite writes: So, Ive reviewed quite a number of games in my time here at Twinfinite. Some have been great, some have been not-so-great, but theyve all shared a pretty important, consistent feature: playability. Im not talking about precision controls, great story, or any of the things that pile on to take a game from working to enjoyable mean the most fundamental form of functionality, the ability to open the game and, after some probable loading time, play it as it exists. Guise of the Wolf is unique in my experience if only for its inability to successfully deliver this, which makes it a very difficult title to review on any other merit (or shortcoming).

There's also the free alpha, in case you never played that.
