News::9Lives - Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Review

9L: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is one of the most spectacular transformations that we have ever seen. Unrecognizable, in the positive sense, and above all very nice, the monthly payment is really justified. Hopefully we get regular updates on our plate, then the future looks very good for this MMORPG.

The first game in the series - Take on Helicopters - aimed at replicating the experience of flying civil helicopters, with realistic controls and physics. Kotaku - It's been a while since the last Rainbow Six game, so Christian Allen decided to kickstart a spiritual successor to the franchise. A little over a year later, and I finally got to sit down and take a look at the beta version with him. I learned a few things mostly that pistols don't penetrate armor, and having a conversation about game design during a mission is a good way to get shot.

Once considered an important new franchise for next gen hardware, Lost Planet has struggled to keep itself in the public eye through recent years. In fact, Lost Planet had such cache that it was one of a very few titles that was on its way to the silver screen.

News::JIG - Sepulchre Review

JIG - Owl Cave's free indie point-and-click adventure game Sepulchre is a horror story of sorts without blood, violence, or jump scares. As the game begins, you, Dr. Lang, are wiling away the time in your train car when the desire for a drink hits you, and... well... to say any more would really be spoiling it, since the game is a mere fifteen minutes to half an hour long. Left-click to interact, and right-click to examine, while mousing over the top-screen brings down your inventory.

News::Mecanika wants to teach Newtonian mechanics with robots

As somebody who has had ideas for using games as tools for education, things like Mecanika are particularly interesting to me. Though physics has become more prominent in games as time has passed, developer CREO wants to utilize realistic Newtonian mechanics in order to give students a better fundamental understanding of how the world works.

The really neat thing here is that a scientific study was done on the effectiveness of Mecanika in teaching basic physics to students, and those who supplemented their traditional instruction with it performed better than those who did not on average. Now, CREO is turning to Kickstarter in order to fund an updated version of the game in order to bring it to a wider audience and help inspire more people to learn about physics. Science!

News::League of Legends Released Forecast Janna Skin

League of Legends added a new skin to character Jana Windforce. Jana's skill set is wind-related and her nickname is "the Storm's Fury", so a weather forecaster skin is quite suitable for her. Now players can try it out in the MOBA game.

News::Memoria Review | SelectButton

SelectButton: "Although slightly on the shorter side, Memorias dark fantasy narrative doesnt disappoint. I found Sadjas chapters to be more enjoyable due to her magic, but also because she doesnt whine as much as Geron does. The puzzles never require a large amount of backtracking and the difficulty felt spot on. "

News::Review: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn | Save/Continue

Chao from Save/Continue says, "The fourteenth instalment of the stellar Final Fantasy franchise that launched in 2010 is now but a distant memory when entering the wonderfully reborn world of Hydaelyn in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Square Enix hopes to not only make a second try a success, but also to convince gamers that subscriptions are still viable and that they can deliver on the content, quality and service that befits a $15 per month fee in their first true foray into the MMO genre since Final Fantasy XI came onto the scene eleven years ago."
