News::Rogue Legacy Review | GodisaGeek

Mikhail Madnani: "Rogue Legacy is full of surprises. When youre not attempting to kill a difficult boss, youll find yourself trying to solve a platforming puzzle to unlock a special chest, discovering seemingly hidden or unexplored areas, and more. The game is incredibly hard at first, but it rewards perseverance. Even with the old school design, Rogue Legacy is filled with a sense of discovery that helps make it so great. This is something that I will be playing for a long time, and you should too it is that damn good."

News::Revenge of A License: A View to A Kill

Michael Crisman writes, "While Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 is likely the first title to pop to mind when someone brings up James Bond video games, its far from the first game to make use of the license. And while A View to a Kill doesnt hold this distinction either (that goes to the more simply-named James Bond 007 on the Atari 2600), it does hold the title for earliest home computer version of a Bond adventure. Starting on June 7th, 1985 ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 owners in the UK could don the tuxedo of Ian Flemmings infamous secret agent for the first time. And surprisingly enough, for a licensed title its not that bad."

Electronic Theatre: Young Clementine has had it pretty tough of late. Her parents are long gone. Her companions have all died around her. Oh, and theres a bunch of undead creatures lurking around every corner, but theyre only a minor affectation in this story.

News::MSNBC's Mika Calls Video Game Makers Just as 'Reprehensible' as Murderous Dictator

Complex: Yesterday we reported how former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega was filing a lawsuit against Call of Duty publisher, Activision. The suit claims that Activision is guilty of "blatant misuse, unlawful exploitation, and misappropriation for economic gain" by using Noriega's likeness with his permission. Considering that Noreiga is serving a 20 year sentence for murder and drug trafficking, the lawsuit is a quirky one-off news story that's more chuckle-worthy than anything else. That's where Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough come in. The two MSNBC anchors took a moment from hosting Morning Joe to comment on the Noreiga lawsuit by chiming in with the sort of video game scapegoating normally reserved for AM radio call-in shows.

News::Gaming's favorite villain is mental illness, and this needs to stop

The discussion surrounding mental health can be invisible. Its one of the least-understood public health concerns, despite how common mental health problems can be in the population. This lack of open conversation creates an atmosphere in which mental health issues and the people who live with them are stigmatized and made to feel like outsiders, unable to address their concerns with family, friends and coworkers for fear of being ostracized or misunderstood. Representation is the key to kickstarting discussion, and video games have taken a woefully one-dimensional approach in the mental health conversation. While theres no shortage of mental health-related content in todays games, it falls into one of two specific camps, neither of which confront the complex and nuanced issues with the empathy and consideration they deserve.

News::The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Blurred Morals | GamerTell

From the review, "Amid the Ruins picks up exactly where Episode 3: In Harms Way left off. So of course, that means in the first 30 seconds players have to make a gut-wrenching decision. It never gets any easier. Honestly, [Jerimiah Mueller] had an overall harder time playing through Episode 4: Amid the Ruins than probably any other installment in the entire series. The writers at Telltale have done an amazing job of making every decision almost completely grey. Right and wrong get so blurred here that I felt like everything I did was wrong, and just hopefully the decision I made was less wrong than the other options.

News::Abyss Odyssey Review by The Black Panel

The Black Panel writes: Abyss Odyssey is a beautiful and insane action platformer that tries really hard to take advantage of some currently popular mechanics, but ultimately fails in the attempt. Its refreshingly uncommon setting harkens from Chile, and brings with it a form of mythology most players will find unfamiliar and distinct. Having said that, its failings and lack of longevity are somewhat forgivable thanks to its modest price tag.

WC writes: Ultimately, in-game physics just like any gameplay system rely on a set of rules. If Laurence Fishburne taught us anything way back in that digital training dojo, its that, Some of these rules can be bent. Others can be broken. The best video game physics ever used motion and weight to tell a story. At times, these were stupid, even meta-ironic stories, but nonetheless they granted us the power of personally dynamic solutions and made the natural motion of our grandest fantasies all but possible. These are the moments well never forget.
