News::Lords of the Fallen Review - 8BitChimp

8BitChimp says, "Having been an avid fan of Dark Souls, not the most experienced player of Darks Souls II, never heard of Demon Souls (until Dark Souls) and never actually beaten a Dark Souls game, I was thoroughly ecstatic for the release of Lords of the Fallen."

News::Blizzard wants its diverse fans to feel 'equally represented' by Overwatch's heroes

Polygon: Blizzard's new team-based multiplayer shooter, Overwatch, is set in a futuristic version of Earth, but it's not so separated by time and space as StarCraft, or as fantastical as Warcraft and Diablo. The game's diverse cast of characters come in a variety of shapes and sizes, genders and non-genders, ethnicities and ages. Look at the game's 12 confirmed characters, and you'll see an eclectic bunch. That's by design, the developer says. It wants players to feel well-represented by its cast of men and women (and robots and gorillas).

News::A Bird Story Review | Analog Addiction

Jamie Briggs, Analog Addiction: "A Bird Story is reminiscent of classic Pixar short films, avoiding dialogue and text to provide exposition. Instead it relies heavily on a visual experience in order to get an emotional reaction from the player. Players are not subjected to walls of text or long expositional cut scenes in order to follow the simple story, we are thrust into the world of an unnamed character and follow their story throughout an interactive section of their lives. In this sense, A Bird Story isnt as much a game, as it is an interactive experience with slight gaming elements. If the above focus on an emotional story intrigued, A Bird Story may very well be a memorable adventure. If however the idea of an interactive experience with very little gameplay doesnt sound like your cup of tea, then A Bird Story isnt the game for you. Though these two statements may sound broad they are easily the defining factor as to whether or not you find enjoyment from A Bird Story....

News::Project Nimbus: Early Access Preview | Power Up Gaming

Amber Colyer writes: "There is a lot to love in Project Nimbus. The gameplay is great, the design and the colors are not only a great throwback to the anime genre but a great new addition to mech combat games. Everything feels as though a lot of love went into it and the attention to detail in certain aspects does not go unappreciated. If you're a fan of mechs, anime or just straight up flying around and shouting 'PEW PEW PEW!' while firing at robots, we recommend Project Nimbus highly."

Diablo's Future? Definitely Not An MMO

Not so long ago, Blizzard voiced interest in taking Diablo to other genres post-Diablo III—up to and including an MMO. That was the goal, said then-game-director Jay Wilson: to evolve the universe to be able to "support" an MMO. Now, however, times have changed, and so has Blizzard.

News::(WGB) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review The Old Dog Has Learned New Tricks

Baden of WGB: "Last years Call of Duty: Ghosts was a low point for the series with a dull campaign and multiplayer that ignored the efforts of Treyarchs Black Ops II to move the franchise forward. This has left newcomer Sledgehammer Games with the task of cleaning up the mess, and to a large degree theyve done just so, and in the process painted Infinity Ward, the developer responsible for making Call of Duty a household name, as the weakest of the three teams now tasked with working on the series."

Hey Poor Player's Adam Foster writes: "Advanced Warfare feels like a fresh-yet-familiar step in the right direction, using some very cool mobility and affording new tactical options that the series desperately needed after Ghosts tepid showing. If this is any indication of what the three-year development cycle of a Call of Duty game will bring, Im all for it."

GamersNexus: "Having spent some time observing all of Blizzard's emergent Overwatch footage, we pieced together a video analysis of all existing recordings to discuss the game's merits. Having survived on Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft for almost two decades now, Blizzard is trying its hand at the FPS genre."

Overwatch Didn't Impress Me. At First

Blizzard's Overwatch is, in the grand scheme of shooters, kinda simple. Each character has one weapon, levels are straightforward, and movement speed feels like everybody is a giant moon ape—not just, you know, the giant moon ape. But each character is different, and I've already discovered some great depth.

News::Max and I suck at Advanced Warfare, but that never stops us from doing anything

Max and I got our hands on a copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . We figured we should probably play it because people like to watch men get sweaty in videogames or whatever. Anyway, we recorded this the day after Max's birthday, so we were both pretty hungover, which served to exacerbate our lack of shooter skill and the incoherence of our jokes. Enjoy.

News::Lords Of The Fallen Review | Codec Moments

Cev at Codec Moments writes: "Developed by CI Games and Deck13 Interactive, Lords Of The Fallen is third person action RPG. Seemingly a combination of series such as From Softwares Souls games, and the now non-existent THQs Darksiders, Lords Of The Fallen takes inspiration from a great many places and amalgamates them into something of its own with the ever familiar dark medieval fantasy backdrop. Now I cant really speculate in regards to Darksiders similarities outside of the aesthetic as I played very little of its first instalment, and what I saw didnt exactly wow me (though I plan to give it another chance when other seemingly more awesome stuff stops coming out/existing). However, I love both the Dark and Demonic efforts of From so far and this is not that."

Sigh. Anyway, Halo is cool.
