Most of us won't recognize Pitbull Studio by name, but the company has worked with Epic Games in the past on Gears of War: Judgment and, most notably, Unreal Engine 4. Now, the two are further extending their partnership as Pitbull becomes Epic Games UK.
"Pitbull has been essential in helping us develop the best tools and technology for building the next generation of games," said Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeney in a statement. They've been invested in UE4's evolution since its early beginnings, and their dedication is unflinching."
Now that it's been acquired, the studio will become a "fully integrated team driving Unreal Engine 4 development in the region," according to this morning's announcement. And that means expansion of the existing team. If you're looking for work in Guildford, Epic is hiring.

After seven years, Justin.tv has been shut down.
The live video site, mobile apps, and APIs are no longer in service as Twitch Interactive Inc.'s focus shifts entirely to its gaming-focused site, Twitch. Getting ready for that acquisition by Google.
Justin.tv users can no longer retrieve their video archives from the site and are being asked to transfer their accounts to Twitch, while broadcasters who don't plan plan to stream gaming-related content are being told to explore other options, like YouTube and Ustream. End of an era.
I remember visiting Justin.tv when it had just become an open network and not understanding the appeal of live broadcasts, and the same thing happened when Twitch first launched. Just gaming? Really? But it worked. Twitch sure has come a long way in such a short span of time.
As part of its financial results, Take-Two Interactive announced that Turtle Rock Studios' cool-looking shooter Evolve has been pushed from an October release to February 10, 2015.
On the one hand, there are so many games set for October that I'm relieved there's now one less to worry about. On the other hand, damn -- I really wanted to play Evolve this year!
2K will still have Grand Theft Auto V for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in the fall. That's something.
What happens when you fuse the twisted magical art of pyromancy with positive thinking and technical know-how? Why, a Dark Souls II hack made in heaven.
Yet another game won't be making it to this fall—publisher 2K Games has delayed their co-op shooter Evolve to February of next year, the company announced during a financial statement today.
There's a new XCOM board game that comes packed with 16 soldiers, over 200 cards and tokens, and more:
Yes, it's named after the Robert Frost poem. No, it's not clear why. The lovely new game from development studio Spry Fox is full of mysteries, most of them with gameplay consequences.
