News::Age of Wushu Review | Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll: "Age of Wushu is a game that I can't honestly judge right away. It has a lot of ideas that fall short of their ambitions due to clunky execution, but Snail Games has promised regular support for this title--for all I know, this could be a completely different experience in a few months. There's no reason not to at least give this huge free-to-play world a shot--just don't expect to be a high-flying hero right off the bat. There's something satisfying about steady training leading to visible progress."

News::Darksiders Acquisition by Nordic Games Looks Bleak

VG Republic Writes: Nordic Games acquired the rights to a bevy of THQ licenses today in the liquidation of the companies assets due to bankruptcy for a rather meager amount considering the fact that they netted 150 individual skews for a total of $4.9 Million Dollars, as reported by Destructoid. The most notable title purchased was that of the Darksiders franchise. Some others included Red Faction, Destroy All Humans, and MX vs. ATV but Darksiders was the title that everyone was eyeing to see who would make the big play for the most recognizable game in THQs arsenal. Fans of the franchise had high hopes for someone making a play that could bring the full potential out in the franchise that has seemingly found its place amongst mediocrity. With Nordic Games making the purchase today fans heads are hanging a little lower as the publisher that typically works along side DreamCatcher Interactive, that has topped out with its titles within the Painkiller realm and hasnt published a si...

News::Sacred Citadel (XBLA) | FTG Review

FTG Writes: The Sacred series of games has always lived in the shadow of competitor Diablo as an isometic hack-and-slash loot-driven action roleplaying game. However, Deep Silver and SouthEnd have taken a different approach to their downloadble prequel to Sacred 3 with Sacred Citadel, a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up reminiscient of games like the soon-to-be-remade Capcom arcade classic Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom. Released on PSN, XBLA as well as Steam for PCs, does Sacred Citadel work its way out from under the shadow of much better titles?

Anybody test out the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro yet? Is it the cat's knees and the bee's pajamas? How does it stack up to the original Circle Pad Pro?

For a certain set of Japanese gamers, the stock devices are hella weaksauce. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate demands the most streamlined controls possible, but Nintendo's offerings don't meet their specialized needs. A few resourceful individuals have decided to "build a better mousetrap" for improved comfort and button placement. Some units have the stick up on the shoulder, while others slap both the stick and an extra D-pad on the rear!

The mods in the gallery below are but a sample of these hardcore hunters' fruits. Are there any you wouldn't mind trying out for yourself?

News::Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall DLC Review | Destructoid

Destructoid: "After finishing Dishonored I wanted more, and The Knife of Dunwall gives me exactly that. Hell, at moments I even completely forgot that I was no longer playing Corvo, as both he and Daud do play in generally the same way. The promise of more DLC has me excited, if not to finish Daud's adventure, then to explore more of this detailed world, and embark on more devilishly challenging assassinations."

News::Dead Island Riptide review | IGN

IGN: "I seriously love Dead Island Riptide for its satisfying zombie dismemberment and co-op, but technically, it's done nothing to build itself into a great game. News::EGM Review: Dead Island: Riptide | EGMNOW

Newcomers to the franchise will likely be more forgiving of many flaws, much like many of us were with the first Dead Island, considering the fun zombie-bashing core and unique dichotomy of an apocalypse in paradise has remained intact. Veterans of the first Dead Island, on the other hand, will feel cheated, as theyll recognize the cheap carbon copy that Riptide actually is. Combine this with glitches galore and a plot with more holes in it than the sinking ship the game starts off on, and its hard to recommend Riptide to all but the most naïve of zombie enthusiasts.

News::Nintendo truly wants to be indies' best friend

For all of Nintendo's shortcomings in dealing with major publishers, the Kyoto giant has been making great strides in courting independent developers. Just this past Saturday at the Full Indie Summit in Vancouver, Nintendo of America's manager of business development, Dan Alderman, took to the stage to explain how easy it is to get software up on Wii U's eShop. Though no official transcript of the talk exists, Nintendo Life's Jon Wahlgren was on site to tweet the best bits.

We've all heard the horror stories from the WiiWare days, such as requiring a proper office or receiving payment only after a minimum sales threshold is met. Those archaic policies are long gone, as you might already be aware, but that's only the beginning. On the eShop, there is neither a concept approval process nor a mandate to use motion controls or GamePad features. Nintendo doesn't even require platform exclusivity, calling such methods "childish" -- no doubt a jab at Microsoft's XBLA arrangements.

Alderman urges indies interested in developing on the Wii U to visit a special Wii U developers page, where prospective partners can fill out a small questionnaire and be one step closer to a license. Nintendo will even provide the Unity Pro 4 engine at no additional cost, and of course there's the Nintendo Web Framework that supports HTML5 and JavaScript.

News::GRID Review (RaceDepartment)

Released in 2008, Grid immediately became one of the must-have racing games on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. And for whatever reason, I just never cared for it. Played the demo, thought it was neat, but when the game finally hit store shelves, I had no desire to buy it. The years went on, the game won numerous awards, personal friends of mine couldnt say enough great things about it, and yet, I still had no reason to try it out. I cant say Im a total sim-snob, but I know the kind of reputation Codemasters has for mixing arcade elements into even their more realistic efforts such as the F1 series, and I continued to avoid Grid over the years as if it were some sort of cancer. I still enjoyed the DiRT and F1 series theyve put out over the years, but nothing ever made me want to try Grid.

News::Colin McRae Rally Mac

Colin McRae Rally Mac is the equivalent of Colin McRae Rally 2005 by Codemasters and has been ported over to the Mac by Feral Interactive. Even though this game is now quite old, Feral Interactive knowingly, or mistakenly ported one of the best rally games of all time. Paying homage to the Colin McRae, the game menu is subtle and stylish, and you can choose any one of the different game modes. Career, single rally events, or just rally stages, the choice is yours. Once you choose your car and stage, the player can make car setup changes, and you do have to be smart, as the setup can win you the rally, or trash your car.
