News::There's a new Sonic cartoon in the works

Sonic is returning to television with Sonic Boom, the fifth Sonic TV series. This one is going to be CG animated, and is set to debut Fall 2014 on Cartoon Network. The target audience is ages 6 to 11, and is billed as an "action packed comedy series."

Sonic is of course the star, and we can expect fan favorites like Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles all to appear as they take on Dr. Robotnik (I hate that he's called Eggman) and his robots. The show also promises brand new enemies because who can get enough of humanized animals?

News::This Dark Souls mod makes enemies more aggressive

I'm by no means an expert Dark Souls player, but I've played long enough that this mod by JITD, which alters enemy AI in such a way that they'll come to you more readily, sounds intriguing. Put enough hours into the game, and you'll become all too aware of the enemy layouts. That sense of discovery and learning -- perhaps what I most adore about the Souls games -- is lost. Officially, here's what the mod changes:

  • No more invisible barriers for enemies

  • Enemies start walking towards you from far away

  • Some NPCs will follow you around. This is a collateral effect of the mod. It will make a little harder to keep some of them alive.

You can watch how that plays out in this video runthrough by VaatiVidya. Now, I can absolutely see how this mod would be unbearable in certain areas of Dark Souls that are packed full of foes, but it might be worth it just for the spectacle of it all. Find installation instructions at that first link.

Rockstar has detailed out all the stuff they're working on to fix Grand Theft Auto Online. The biggest thing from Rockstar's update is that they've disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs.

Rockstar noted that the team is "working around the clock" to make the experience as smooth as possible. Until then, it's really up to luck if you can get in. Our own Chris Carter was able to play through GTA Online and make this handy tips guide.

As for me, I've been looking at the loading menu at the very first mission for the last 24 hours now.

News::What happens when you're in BF4's collapsing buildings

Remember that crazy Battlefield 4 E3 demo where the skyscraper came tumbling down and "leveloution" became a word? Yeah, that was great -- the collapsing building, not the buzzwords.

But have you wondered what it looks like to be in the building while it come down? YouTuber TerryxMasters did, and apparently the answer is that you just shuffle around some and die. I was hoping for some hamster-in-a-wheel tumbling, but I suppose that would be too tasking. If by some digital black magic that would be possible, oh please DICE, hear my prayers.

News::Ubisoft reveals even more songs for Rocksmith 2014

Maybe it's the early onset of my eventual mid-life crisis but I've been wanting to learn to play the guitar recently. My knack for procrastination has made me put it off for years now but Rocksmith has intrigued me. Given my a severe lack of spare time, could I really learn to play the guitar through a game? The new Rocksmith 2014 edition is looking even more tempting with Ubisoft revealing new songs for the sequel.

Ubisoft has announced eight more songs that will be included in Rocksmith 2014, such as Queen's "We Are The Champions," Rush's "Spirit of the Radio," Green Day's "X-Kid," and Deftones' "My Own Summer (Shove It)." Some great songs there and looking at the full list below, there's some absolute favorite tracks of mine from the likes of Mastodon, R.E.M., Radiohead, and Red Fang. I'll be waiting for our review to see if it's worth picking up but this track listing is really tempting.

It is without a doubt one of the best MMOs I have ever played, and the inevitable end-game content loomed. Like a Swan Lake ballet, you will run, dodge and elegantly dance with the Lord of Crags as you avoid his less than pleasant abilities. Our poor Warrior guildie needed help in defeating him and as much as it pains me in having to beat this boss again, I gladly accepted the challenge.

News::Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death Review | GodisaGeek

GodisaGeek: "Marlow Briggs is one of those games that was apparently designed with a very clear goal. Its highly unlikely that anyone, at any point during its development, thought they might have a blockbuster super-hit on their hands and, as a result, it comes down from its OTT action-movie high just on the right side of enjoyable. Stuffed full of big explosions, frantic combat and wilful bombast, Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is a surprisingly enjoyable action-adventure that remains just about competent enough throughout to justify the fun it has at the expense of its own genre. If you dont go in expecting to be blown away, you wont be disappointed with Zootflys over-the-top jungle jaunt."

Sega of America confirmed today an undisclosed number of layoffs, Venture Beat reports. A spokeswoman for the company had this to say:

“As the gaming industry continues to evolve, companies must adapt and adjust in order to compete and succeed in an ever-changing environment. As a result of this, Sega of America has recently undergone a restructure that will enable the company to focus efficiently on developing new and existing content across digital platforms as well as continuing to focus on key brands for packaged goods.”

The number of layoffs are apparently small, but it's never good when this happens. Sega recently purchased Atlus, and Relic Entertainment too.
