News:: Hello Kitty and her pals will throw down in Japan's Splatoon 2 splatfest

While the U.S. and Europe currently lock horns in a battle over who is the greatest Ninja Turtle, Japan gets a similar, yet altogether more kawaii fight, as Sanrio are bringing their cutesy characters to bear in a Splatoon 2 splatfest.

As with the TMNT-themed splatfest, four Sanrio characters will fight it out across three weeks. Round one, starting next week on May 19, sees brand figurehead Hello Kitty take on the sweet Cinnamoroll. Pearl is backing the former, and Marina the latter.

Round two will find gangsta rabbit My Melody face off against Pompompurin. The two respective winners will then go to the Grand Finals the following week. Nintendo have released a line of adorable T-shirts to celebrate the tournament, although they are unfortunately only available on the Japanese Nintendo store.

Meanwhile, right now in the West, Michelangelo and Donatello brawl to find out who will face Raphael in next week's final. Have a good weekend, Squid-kids!

News:: A real life Destiny 2 scavenger hunt led people to an actual Valkyrie spear from the game

Every so often studios will put time into crafting ARG games. Some of them don't go so well, like the time Capcom scattered fake body parts throughout a major city, but some are pretty awesome. I think this recent Destiny 2 stunt fits into the latter category.

For a few days since the launch of the recent Warmind DLC, fans have been cracking away at a puzzle that eventually led to a set of coordinates. This was a full-on investigation, with a lot of the credit going to the subreddit Raid Secrets, and the redditor Randomiser who solved the cipher. When an intrepid group went to the location they found coins, a letter, and a full-on Valkyrie spear -- the weapon type featured in the Warmind DLC.

It looks like the activity was the brainchild of Rob Gallerani, design lead at Vicarious Visions, who worked with Bungie on this particular add-on -- the two-decade old studio that's worked on tons of properties and most recently handled the Skylanders series alongside of Toys for Bob. Nice one Rob!

News:: The perfection of Hannibal Part 1: Kaiseki

Kaiseki: A type of art form that balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food. Finished dishes are carefully presented on plates that are chosen to enhance both the appearance and the seasonal theme of the meal.

Five years ago, Hannibal debuted on NBC. Even though it never brought in the viewers that NBC would have liked, it was critically praised and developed an incredibly strong fanbase. For three seasons, fans were treated to a beautiful, rich, bloody, and deeply disturbing show that was so magical that it was impossible to turn away from. I watched every episode as it aired and hopped over to IGN to read their reviews and see what other people thought of the show. It was the first time I really became invested in a show and the community that surrounded it.

I personally have shown Hannibal to five separate people, each coming from different backgrounds. Some were reserved in what kind of TV shows they watched, others were eager to see weird and bizarre television that pushed the boundaries. All five people loved Hannibal. It is, without a doubt, my favorite television series. Since the show was canceled in 2015, fans have been clamoring for a fourth season in some way, shape, or form, and that passion is still alive. We're Fannibals, and we are a dedicated bunch. So with this being the fifth anniversary of the most criminally underrated show in recent memory, I wanted us to take a stroll down memory lane an examine the highs and the lows of this masterpiece.

News:: Trainer PSA: The dangers of Pokemon mother negligence

The life cycle of a Pokémon remains an enigma to Day Care owners everywhere. Where do Pokémon eggs come from? Why do they only appear whenever a male and a female Pokémon (or a Ditto) are left alone together for a very long time? Professors remain baffled by this illogical conundrum. But due to vague parallels to human mating rituals, we’ve come to refer to the female Pokémon left in the Day Care as a mother, and the act itself as breeding.

They’ve proven themselves worthy of this title, as these “Pokémothers” tend to care for these eggs with the same passion as any human mother should. A Kangaskhan devotes her entire self to allow her child to grow up strong with many skills besides battling. Cubones keep mementos from their mothers close to their hearts, and brains, at all times. Baby Pokémon are doted on with luxurious incenses.

Indeed, a Trainer caring for both a Pokémon and its mother is proven to strengthen ties among Pokémon and even the Trainer's own family. At least, most Pokémon have such healthy relationships with their mothers. But Trainer society continues to perpetuate a dangerous lifestyle, tearing away countless Pokémon mothers from their children. We need to put an end to competitive breeding.

News:: Sony: Don't expect hardware news at E3 2018

Sony will be using its presence at E3 2018 to highlight upcoming games like Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II, but we shouldn't expect any hardware news at the show.

That's according to Sony Interactive Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden, who confirmed on the PlayStation Blogcast that there will be "no new hardware announcement at E3 this year."

This is to be expected as far as PlayStation 5 is concerned. We're coming up on five years since the launch of the original PlayStation 4, to say nothing of PS4 Pro, which debuted in November 2016. It's just too early. But no PlayStation VR hardware news? That's a bit more interesting.

With the PS4 lineup looking as solid as it does, I'm in absolutely no rush. Even 2020 feels early.

Sony's E3 2018 conference is set for Monday, June 11 at 6:00pm Pacific.
