News::Electronicaga! Triple Triad album remixes FFVI-VIII

OverClocked ReMix released the absolutely bonkers five-disc Final Fantasy VI: Balance and Ruin last week, and as good as it is, I imagine a few people went, "That's too much music, dammit!" I'm sure those people would prefer something a little smaller, more focused, and more concentrated.

Mykah's Triple Triad , a new GameChops-published work, popped up yesterday. The 12-track album dishes out electronica remixes of tunes from Final Fantasy VI, VII, and VIII, including Kefka's theme, "J.E.N.O.V.A.," and "Force Your Way." No "Dancing Mad" or "One-Winged Angel" here, but haven't we heard those enough already? Like the Mega Man 2 "Dr. Wily Stage 1" of Final Fantasy music, I swear.

The digital album is $8, but you can score a physical copy for two bucks more. And yes, for the billionth time, the album has been properly licensed. Don't worry about that.

News::This new Team Fortress 2 update is an important one

When Valve first talked about the most recent Team Fortress 2 update, the focus was placed on two new community maps, "Process" and "Standin." Looking over the extensive patch notes now, however -- they keep going and going -- there's a lot going on here.

Old maps have been revisited, items have been tweaked, and yes, there are now Summer Coolers and Keys to worry about. I'm no expert on the metagame by any means, but many of these changes (50% overheal for the Quick-Fix, I'm looking at you!) sound terrific on paper. This is all going to make for an exciting, crazy time.

Darn it, Team Fortress 2 -- I've started playing you again. And there's no sign that I'll want to stop anytime soon. So long as I don't simultaneously get into Dota 2 , I'll be okay. Wait, I'm screwed.

News::Ittle Dew Review | Gamers Association

"Ittle Dew isnt a genre-defining moment for top-down adventure games. Nothing is wholly original and the game feels a bit formulaic in its design approach. The story is a bit lackluster and the game isnt overtly difficult, which makes for a few dull moments. But the charming characters and impressive visuals mixed with some strong puzzle designs make for a solid few hours of gaming." - Peter Glagowski

News::It looks like China may finally lift the game console ban

The sale of videogame consoles have been banned in China for 13 years now, but it looks like that's all about to change according to South China Morning Post. The catch? Companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft must manufacture the consoles in Shanghai. That plus the culture ministry and other government bodies have final approval over what can be released as to prevent violent or political based content to reach the public because Communism.

Question is, would any of the big three console makers want to invest in opening up a new manufacturing plant just for China? Well with a population of over one billion, I'd say it'd be worth the cost.

AusGamers has posted an excerpt from a forthcoming interview with Bohemia's Matthew Lightfoot who serves as production assistant on DayZ and is one of the original DayZ mod-team members, writing: Of course, there have been many developers downplaying the importance of mods and the mod community in more recent times, something Lightfoot is happy to rebel against in the sheer success of their own product. "The exec producer on Battlefield: Bad Company said something along the lines of modding is dead; well we certainly buried it alive didnt we," he says with a laugh. "I loved ArmA because of the customisability: you could download a mod and get a new aircraft -- there was so many mods for it, and thats what kept me playing. News::NZ Gamer - The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot Preview

NZ Gamer - When I saw the teaser for Mighty Quest for Epic Loot during Ubisofts E3 conference, I got pretty excited. I wasnt sure what I was excited for, exactly, with the video not showing or even hinting at gameplay, but the Pixar-esque humour and promise of a lighthearted fantasy romp had me hooked. Learning that the game would be a hack and slash action RPG piqued my interest further, but prior to a code for the closed beta falling into my inbox, I didnt really know what I was getting into. You see, the ARPG is only part of Mighty Quest - I wasnt expecting the heavy simulation elements that flesh out the rest of the game, but they fit so well together that Im surprised it hasnt been done before (at least, not that I know of).

News::Denkiphile: Rogue Legacy Review

Paul from Denkiphile: "Cellar Door Games Rogue Legacy was a title that I was genuinely interested in after hearing good things about it as well as seeing people play it. Though it looks like a generic 2D retro platformer at first glance, the gameplay that accompanies it is much more entertaining. My first thoughts upon playing the game were Wow this totally plays and feels like Maplestory. Granted, this is because the keyboard controls closely emulated that of Maplestorys since all movement of your character is done using only the keyboard. However, when played with the gamepad, the gameplay much more closely resembles that of old 2D action-adventures such as Castlevania."

News::In-depth Review: Borderlands 2: Tiny Tinas Assault on Dragon Keep - Electronic Theatre

Downloadable content (DLC) is one of the most widely debated subject matter of modern gaming. A practice that has evolved from expansion packs to fit with modern technological advances and an audience primed for pay-as-you-go gameplay, DLC can be both engaging and contemptible in the same breath. The fact that many publishers are weaving DLC into their production plans long before a videogame launches is perhaps to be expected, but the fact that it far too often arrives only weeks after the core videogame itself is the hallmark of an add-on designed for maximising revenues, not enjoyment.

News::Listen to the AMAZING Sonic After the Sequel OST

The other day, I shared with you all a new Sonic the Hedgehog fan game, Sonic After the Sequel . In particular, I made note of the game's unbelievably amazing OST. We're talking professional grade material here, equaling and possibly surpassing any official Sonic soundtrack. It's that good.

Though I provided a link to the full soundtrack and shared a small handful of tracks from YouTube, I wanted to give you guys a little more. It's a good thing that Falk Au Yeong, one of the game's seven composers, hit me up with a link to a YouTube "Sound Test" of sorts. That should allow you to quickly sample the audio as well as jump right into the full playlist for the extended tracks. And if you want to download the album in mp3 format, hit up either this link or this one.

Oh! And the OST for the game preceding this one, Sonic Before the Sequel, is pretty kickass too. I've embedded a YouTube sampler below along with links to the playlist and mp3 download.

News::Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within Review | GamingBolt

"Press releases are always funny things, occasionally accompanying the reviews I receive, full of pomp and hyperbole. It wouldn't be the first time an email has told me I'll be playing the best game ever made. Having never played Jack Keane before, my only preconception of the game was in a press release that describes the game as full of Jack Keanesque humour and truly a 21st century adventure.
