Downloadable content (DLC) is one of the most widely debated subject matter of modern gaming. A practice that has evolved from expansion packs to fit with modern technological advances and an audience primed for pay-as-you-go gameplay, DLC can be both engaging and contemptible in the same breath. The fact that many publishers are weaving DLC into their production plans long before a videogame launches is perhaps to be expected, but the fact that it far too often arrives only weeks after the core videogame itself is the hallmark of an add-on designed for maximising revenues, not enjoyment.
