News::The GayStation 4 was purchased at a high price

The GayStation 4, as you may remember from last week, has finally been sold for a whopping 28,300kr, or roughly $4,105. That's a lot of money raised in the name of The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Rights (RSFL) and it should bring a smile to your face to know it raised that much money for charity.

RFSL Newcomers received 100% of the profits from this charitable effort, and user "Pumpkaboo" took home the console. I'm not sure what use a sentient pumpkin has for a console, but I'm sure his or her cause is a noble one.

News::Concursion Review - Too Much Quantity, Not Enough Quality (Twinfinite)

Mike G from Twinfinite writes: Genre-blends. Done well, theyre a blast. Done poorly, as is often the case, and the player can only wonder how what might have been a beautiful idea was warped into something so hideous. But usually, the genres blended are only two distinct ones, possibly three. With the example of Concursion, however, all limits are broken with many different types of games mashed together into one. And make no mistake, this game isnt representing the best of them all.

News::She's Making An Honest Game About Sex

She's Making An Honest Game About Sex

I went to Brooklyn, New York to visit Nina Freeman, who is currently making a game called Cibele. It is an autobiographical game about Nina’s experience having sex for the first time with someone she met through an online game. The game uses real filmed sequences and sections of an MMO-like game to tell an emotionally difficult story, one of flirtation and betrayal. The art from the game, made by Rebekka Dunlap, is interspersed throughout the article. The header image of Nina was lovingly drawn by New York-based illustrator Elizabeth Simins.

News::Hearthstone Curse of Naxxramas: The Plague Quarter Review | GIZORAMA

Mariah Beckman, GIZORAMA - "Its week two of the five that will make up the five wings of Hearthstones solo adventure, Naxxramas. The first wing, The Arachnid Quarter, was met with mixed reviews from players. Some have complained that, for all the hype, Naxx is a flat effort that has been over-hyped. I being relatively new to online collectible card games, find that this single players adventure mode is both fun AND less maddening than playing against real players for a change. (Regular players know what Im talking aboutat least AI doesnt say Thank you after every turn.)"

News::Sekai Project is gauging interest in localizing Key visual novels via survey

Sekai Project wants to know if you're interested in seeing the localization of additional games from Visual Arts' Key label.

The publisher is looking for your feedback, which you can provide through this survey. It asks which games you'd like to see translated, the publishers you're most interested in, which titles you've purchased before, and if you played/liked Sakura Spirit, the company's latest project. Look for a review of it here soon.

Sekai is conducting the survey, as related to Siliconera, for personal research, but it should be interesting to see what comes of the data. Make sure you head over and make your voice heard!

News::Tropico 5 can't be released in Thailand, deemed inappropriate

The last two installments of the humorous Tropico simulation series made it to Thailand but this year's game, Tropico 5 , will not see release in the country -- it's been banned.

Following a coup in May, Thailand's government is currently under military control. The Board of Film and Video Censors told Tropico 5 distributor New Era that "some contents of the game are not appropriate for the current situation," but did not clarify which content was deemed inappropriate. As a result, New Era has decided against making an appeal to the board.

"Our distributor has been working hard to gain approval for the release," said Kalypso Media Group global managing director Stefan Marcinek, "but it seems that the Board of Film and Video Censors deem some of the content too controversial for their consumers. This does sound like it could have come from one of El Presidente's own edicts from the game."

News::This is way too much to pay for the Destiny: Ghost Edition

After Destiny's recent high-profile beta, a lot of people found themselves more enamored by Bungie's new shooter than they thought they'd be. Now that everyone's had a chance to see what the game's all about, there's been an influx of reselling pre-ordered limited editions of the game, often times for far more money than they retail for.

The most extreme example thus far is a copy of the Ghost Edition that just sold on eBay for $1,025.00. That's a lot of coin, especially considering that this version normally goes for $150 (or, at least it did until it sold out). There are several other listings for the Ghost Edition that are less ridiculous, but are still priced in the $300-400 range.

It's worth noting that at the time of writing, the buyer hasn't actually ponied up the cash for this sale yet. It could very well be someone looking to cause grief to resellers. But, even if this one never gets followed through on, there are plenty others out there that are turning a profit on Destiny.

News::Mind: Path to Thalamus Review | Twinfinite

Mike from Twinfinite writes, "An emerging genre in the past couple of years is the first-person exploration game, in which the player-character interacts with a game space in ways other than killing enemies. Notable titles such as Gone Home, Dear Esther, and The Stanley Parable have opened the door for bold new gameplay and storytelling ideas, and Mind: Path to Thalamus is the latest attempt at this style of game. It was created using the Unreal Development Kit by Carlos Coronado. He is a modder of note, having designed the Warcelona maps in Left 4 Dead 2. With Mind, he sets out to create an experience that comes across like a combination of Myst and Portal that, in general, does a pretty decent job of filling those big shoes."

News::The Red Solstice Preview | GIZORAMA

Zeb Larson, GIZORAMA - "Steam Early Access has effectively replaced the demo games of yesteryear. Rather than playing a snippet of a game, we get to see it as it develops. Obviously, there are benefits and drawbacks with this system, but one of the more maddening drawbacks is that a game still heavily in development doesnt necessarily give you a good idea how it will be once it becomes a finished product. The Red Solstice is an interesting game with a lot of good ideas, but its just barely a game at this point. There are so many bugs still being hammered out and so much content that still hasnt been finished that what youre left with is basically a buggy demo."
