News::ZTGD | Heavy Bullets Review

Drew Leachman writes: I had actually never heard of Heavy Bullets until I was told I would be reviewing the game. Just coming off Early Access, this small indie game actually took me by surprise. Taking on the role of a worker for a strange wildlife hunting ground, players are tasked with returning order to the place after a malfunction occurs and turns the place into a dangerous Jurassic Park, where not only the animals will try to kill them, but also the malfunctioning turrets that have been placed in each area.

News::Welcome to Tokyo Psycho Break Show 2014 Tokyo Game Show

Rocketnews24: "Psycho Break, or The Evil Within outside Japan, is Resident Evil director Shinji Mikamis newest horror baby. At last years TGS, we were treated to a show video presentation of the game, which featured an unarmed protagonist trying to escape from a chainsaw-wielding psychopath inside an insane asylum that would transform before his very eyes. With the game due for release next month, Mikami and his team are doubling down and splashing the remainder of their budget on hype, it would seem, because this years Tokyo Game Show was positively plastered with banners and posters for the game, with official Tokyo Game Show signs a comparatively rare sight."

News::Faceted Flight demo released with new forest map

The Rift Arcade - Faceted Flight is one of our favourite demos for the DK2. Its low-poly, vibrant graphics are perfectly suited to the Rift, merging elements from Star Fox with Wipeout. Now the game has been updated with a brand new new demo that includes a forest map, DirectToRift support and a 3D world menu that shows miniature versions of each map before you play. Its a fantastic update. We were immediately struck by the new vibrancy of the graphics. It was colourful before, but now the contrast has been boosted, and the game has a sunset look to the lighting which makes it look even more beautiful. After choosing to start a new game, each level is presented as a miniature diorama, with a tiny animated ship flying around it. Its a charming touch that adds to the polished feel of the game.

News::Shadow Kings: Dark Ages Impressions (Web Browser)

Its not hard to find games that follow the multiplayer city/empire-building formula offensive and defensive battles, recruiting soldiers and building resource farms, waiting for cool downs and timers. Shadow Kings: Dark Ages, a multiplayer town builder by Goodgame Studios, highly resembles other familiar games that share this formula. It took a few hours of gameplay before I realized that it wasnt simply a copy-and-paste from other games of the same genre, however. There are some things that Shadow Kings does that I havent seen before, only I wish they would have capitalized on these differences to make them more meaningful.

News::5 Underrated Shooters You Can Substitute For Call of Duty This Fall

Liam Lambert, GIZORAMA - "So Fall, or Autumn as we like to call it in the UK, is almost upon us, or is already showering us with a brilliant cascade of crispy brownness depending on where you live or what particular calendar you subscribe to. For videogames this means were about to encounter a similar cascade of brownness in the form of big budget AAA releases, most of which happen to be games wherein you blow stuff up, shoot guys, and say things like The LZ is hot. Destiny has ushered in this years Fall of Titan shooters (which doesnt include Titanfall), and were soon to be graced by yet another Call of Duty game in the form of COD 11: Are They Even Trying to Name These Things Anymore, a game with notably fewer market competitors this year, what with the absence of the now delayed Battlefield Hardline: Youd Better Believe This Will Be Controversial."

News::Steam - new feature helps you buy games you will never play

Steam introduced a number of new features today designed to help expose customers to more of the games they like and less of the games they do not. As with many updates to the platform, the new features seem to represent the first step toward a new status quo, rather than a finished product. For instance, Steam promises the ability to customize your home screen, in order to control what kinds of games are shown. However at the time of feature roll-out, only four options exist (Early Access, Games Already on Your Account, Games, and Software). Presumably more options will be added as customers provide suggestions and feedback.
