News:: The Nintendo Rebound

Love it or hate it, Nintendo sure has had an interesting year. Whether you are playing Pokémon, eagerly anticipating the Nintendo Switch, or just hoping to relive the nostalgia days with the NES Classic Edition, the company has a strong rebound going on right now.

It hasn't all been pretty, and we've seen the company handling things very similarly to the launch of the Wii back in 2006 *cough NES Classic Edition cough*, however the one thing I love about Nintendo is it's always interesting to just sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride that it has brought to the business world for years now.

News:: Review: Zen Pinball 2: Bethesda Pinball

I was in a game store when I came across a box of Bethesda blind-bag toys the other day. I don't know why, but they kind of captivated me for a little while. Seeing plastic miniatures of Dog Meat and the Lone Survivor mixing with the DoomGuy, Corvo, and the weird murder-dude with a safe for his head from the Evil Within made me appreciate the variety of Bethesda's library in a way I typically gloss over. It's easy to think of Bethesda as an Elder Scrolls and Fallout factory and forget the other weird and interesting titles under the studio's belt.

The Bethesda Pinball pack for Zen Pinball 2 strikes the same chord. It's pinball, but played on tables based on the eclectic settings of Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Doom. Each table takes the very familiar experience of playing one of these three major titles and abstracts it out to flippers, silver balls, and tilt warnings. It makes for a weird and interesting experience you might not immediately expect from the worlds of Bethesda.

News:: Christmas deals: return of PlayStation 4 system discount plus giant PC game sales

Christmas is nearing and the deals are bountiful. Starting next week PlayStation 4 will receive its $50 price slash again at participating retailer and GameStop has jumped the gun once again, offering a today-only PS4 console deal worth $110 in value. You'll receive the same $50 discount we've seen during Black Friday and Cyber Monday plus 1 year PlayStation Plus subscription valued at $60. The deal is Saturday only so if you want the PS Plus membership, we'll act now rather than later. Or check back starting on the 11th to see what other retailers will cook up.

In the last-gen console realm of deals ye old school PS3 and Nintendo Wii's are going of essentially firesale at GameStop. The old 500GB PS3 Super Slims, in both black and white colors, are only $89.99 which is a historic low price. It's an online only offer with free shipping, but no store pickup option.

The PC Gaming Winter sales haven't gone into full discount mode, but they're itching closer as the dates near. Several retailers already have pre-Christmas sales with discounts over 90% off hundreds of titles. GOG's Winter sale and GamesPlanet's batch of Xmas Deals ends on Sunday this weekend, GamersGate's Pre-Christmas Sale ends next week Thursday, while GMG's Devolver Digital and Flash Sales will carry on into next week as well.

News:: Tekken 7 adds the cute Kuma and Panda to the roster

With how serious Tekken 7 is taking itself with its story, I was worried there wouldn't be room for the series' trademark goofiness. Luckily, we can put those fears to bed as Kuma and Panda will be joining the roster when the sequel finally hits consoles. This trailer hits hard with cuteness right off the bat with new character portraits, new looks, and a peek at the two characters' version of Rage Arts, Tekken 7's new mechanic.

Along with these two new characters, Bandai Namco also announced the game will be getting an Online Tournament mode, where eight people can get together online and duke it out until one emerges victorious.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution is coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam early next year.

News:: The Morning After: Weekend Edition

Letter from the Editor

One of the pioneers of the modern smartwatch, Pebble, is no more as of this week. The company's IP and some of its employees are now in Fitbit's corporate hands, and the prospects of future hardware are officially (mercifully?) gone. This made many people on staff feel many things. Especially Nicole Lee, who's having a particularly hard time accepting the death of Pebble's gear.
