News::The Evil Within preview | ArabicGamers

When was the last time a game had you truly scared? Not in a jumpy, didn't see it coming kind of way, but actually scared to the point where you keep your bedroom light on at night. For most people you'd probably have to go back to the glory days of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, which were so terrifying you had to play them with a change of underwear handy at all times. The Evil Within aims to bring scary back to the mainstream, and as it's being directed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami you wouldn't bet against this being the survival horror game we've been waiting for all these years.

News::The Clock Strikes Meat Night DLC Review - XCLANN

The Town map is something akin to a village you would probably find the likes of Dracula frequenting, with streets lined with coffins and undead zombies popping up all through its tight narrow streets. The map itself is well designed and graphically pleasing, with long narrow streets, burning medieval buildings and foggy feel all making for an apt setting.

Saints Row 4 is setting up to be one of the most fun, outrageous titles of this year and who can argue that when you can bulldoze through traffic, drop a club-hoppin beat at the touch of a trigger and deliver the cure for a worldwide disease? News::Beyond the Cube Preview: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn | Cubed3

The tale of Final Fantasy XIV was not a happy one. As with many of Square's console projects last generation, it met with less than universal acclaim. In fact, it was roasted from one end of the Internet to another - laughed at and derided. Farmed out to a Chinese MMO factory, it was of such poor quality that Yoichi Wada, Square Enix's President, was forced to apologize to fans (twice), promising to personally oversee redevelopment of the project from the ground up. Cubed3 had the chance to try out the Beta version for this special Beyond the Cube hands-on preview before its final release on 27th August in the US.

News::Diehard GameFAN: Company Of Heroes 2 Review

DHGF:Unfortunately I cant really recommend picking up Company Of Heroes 2 for the simple fact that outside of some of the unique gameplay elements, its basically the same game I played 8 years ago. Company of Heroes 2 feels more like an expansion than a true sequel with the only new elements being the Weather and Theatre of War game mode. The multiplayer mode feels incredibly slow and just doesnt come off as enjoyable to me and theres the huge amount of game crashing bugs I kept running into. The campaign mode is suppose to be the games bread and butter as it recounts the war from the Soviet perspective but instead we are given a small amount of the actual impact the war had on the U.S.S.R. Overall I did see some bright spots in Company Of Heroes 2 but they werent strong enough to make me forget about the other issues that plagued my gaming experience.

News::19-year-old spent a year making this amazing Skyrim mod

Skyrim mods are the best, like the one we just featured that brings in Dishonored powers into Skyrim . This one, though, takes the cake. Falskaar is a new mod and it features nearly 25 hours of new content. That's new characters, new voices, new quests, and a new land mass that's a third of the size of the original game.

All this is made even more impressive when you learn that it's a mod made largely by just Alexander Velicky, a 19-year-old who's using this mod to help him try to get a job at Bethesda.

“I organized everyone involved, but the voice actors themselves recorded all the dialogue and submitted it to me,” Velicky told PC Gamer. "I had some people help me out with a few models and textures, someone wrote a book or two for me… But otherwise all content was implemented, written and developed by me.”

Note that a number of people also recorded voices for the dialogue, and someone even composed an original soundtrack.

You can try out this ambitious mod through Skyrim Nexus. Very impressive stuff.

News::Deadpool Review | All For Gamenews

All For Gamenews - Licenses can be very troublesome when trying to make a videogame out of a popular franchise but things get even more complicated when comic books become the focus of a game. Now while this does give developers the advantage of having a sizeable history to draw their work from, they nonetheless come under fire from overzelous fanboys and fangirls who seem obsessed with minor details. With the challenged involved in pleasing both the publishers and the fandom, some people even have the audacity to ask why videogames from movies arent very popular. Hmm, why indeed?

Double Eleven is giving PixelJunk Monsters a fresh coat of paint for PlayStation Vita later this month. PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD will launch on July 30 and July 31 for North American and European PlayStation Network users, respectively.

At $14.99, the price is a bit high for those of us who already own PixelJunk Monsters in one or more forms, but that's worth paying if you happen to be a first-timer. Ultimate HD includes the content introduced in the Encore expansion and Deluxe edition of Monsters, so you're getting what should be the definitive version here.

Still one of my favorite tower-defense titles ever, due in part to the sheer challenge presented.

PJ: "There has been a popular trend in gaming the past few years, games that have a heavy penalty upon death. Many times you have to start over with another character, or lose all of your valuable souls. Day Z, Dark Souls, FTL, Spelunky, and now you can add Rogue Legacy to that list. It resembles the genre characterized by brutal difficulty and ego smashing deaths, but it has some very interesting twists that make it a welcome addition to the roguelike family."

News::Flashback remake also comes with the original game

VectorCell's reimagining of the classic sci-fi platform game Flashback is coming along. With the tweaks being made to modernize the title, this could end up being a disappointment for long-time fans who have the original version burned into their brain more than a decade later despite the team's intention to retain its "heart and soul." We've certainly been burned by remakes before.

It's hard to say for sure at this point, but one piece of reassuring news is that the original Flashback will be included with the remake. So, worst case, we now have an easy way to play that on modern platforms since this is being published across Xbox Live Arcade (August 21), PlayStation Network, and PC.

Pixelbionic and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe have revealed a Kickstarter for MotorGun, a new vehicular combat game.

The post-apocalyptic cars-and-combat game will have deep customisation elements and revolve around three warring factions, duking it out on open battlegrounds. MotorGun is in development at Pixelbionic, a California-based indie co-founded by development veterans Michael Maxx Kaufman and Mike Arkin. The studio has also brought in Twisted Metal and God Of War creator David Jaffe and Interstate ’76 creator Zack Norman as creative leads on the project.

The games industry has always been the focus of much controversy. From assertions that it causes obesity and health issues to claims its creating a generation of violent psychopaths, gaming has been used as the scapegoat for a lot over the years. Such is the way of things in the entertainment sector. In the past, music and movies have born their share of the brunt of criticism for societys ills. There have been many high-profile cases of music being blamed for suicides or murders, for anorexia or depression; likewise with movies. Games arent special or unique in this case; theyre just the latest thing to be tarred with that particular brush.

News::Firefall: A What to Do for the Noob Like You

j3w3l writes: Firefall has stepped in Open Beta, the perpetually beta is nearly over and the masses are now able to ascend on the poor suspecting world of New Eden. During my first foray into Firefall many months ago I had no idea what to do and where to go as the general style of play is so different from the restrained leveling and end game of the MMO's I was used to. I aimlessly wandered around the world, bouncing between events and objectives clawing for some sort of familiar guide. Funnily enough what I was doing is exactly what you should do which leads me to the first point.

News::You'll need to download the rest of Forza 5 at launch

Forza Motorsport 5 will require an online connection at least once to play, as you'll have to download the rest of the game to compliment what is on the disc. Speaking to IGN, Turn 10 Studios head Dan Greenawalt explained how the process of getting the game running will work.

“So when you first boot up the game, we’re going to ask you to log in,” he said. “And when you log in you’re going to get the Drivatars and you’re also going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One. [But] that is required content to play the game.”

Basically, in order to have Forza 5 available at launch, Turn 10 will be pressing incomplete discs in such a way that it will have the extra month or so to keep working on the game, allowing users to immediately download the rest of the game at launch. Greenawalt likened it to a refrigerator, in that you'll have to fill it once to make it complete, at which point further updates become optional because the initial food is infinite and perpetually unspoiled. I'd like such a fridge. It's a rather clever workaround, especially because Turn 10 likely thought the always-online requirement would make the required day one DLC a non-issue.

Now that the Xbox One can be played offline (aside from a one-time required connection), this does raise a couple concerns, though. For example, what happens when servers are inevitably shut down and Forza 5 discs are rendered unplayable because the required updates are unavailable? There is also something mildly uncomfortable about buying a boxed videogame that is actually incomplete and non-working until you update it. Such is the result of trying to fortify that launch lineup.
