News::2014 PUG Game of the Year Awards: Day Nine

Austin Flynn writes: "Although I didn't pick up Shovel Knight until mid-October, the only experience I can really liken my time with the game to is summer love. It comes on hard, fast, hot, sweaty and makes you sad at the thought of it ending, but you just have to keep going back for more. The characters are colorful, the fights are intense, the music is masterfully arranged (not to mention collectible), and the storyline is a mixture of goofy and uplifting that'll stick with you long after your first playthrough. There's really not much to complain about in the game either. The controls are tight, there's plenty to collect, there are multiple difficulty options with achievements to obtain, and the length of the game is just right."

To many people out there who enjoy video games, the term IP has little meaning. Its not a term that gets thrown around too much outside of dedicated gaming circles. But IP is an important term and it shouldnt be overlooked. Instead, consumers should be more interested a new IP rather than just another new game.

News::The Crew Review - ThoseGamers

The Crew was the last big release of 2014 for Ubisoft. Almost every major release by Ubisoft in 2014 attracted heavy criticism. There were accusations of misrepresenting graphical quality and gameplay, botched releases that required heavy patching and a major push towards micro-transactions. It was another Ubisoft title with a big vision; promising gameplay that would allow gamers to drive from one side of the United States to the other and a seamless online multiplayer experience. On many levels The Crew achieves its vision but unfortunately there are just enough flaws to stop this from going from good to great.

VVV: "Put simply, the only-stand out feature of The Crew is its recreation of the mainland United States. Beyond that, its nothing more than an average and at-times frustrating open-world racer with a pointless storyline, AI programming that undermines the titles MMO architecture, and the faintest essence of a game that, had more work and attention been put on its core mechanics and concepts instead of the superfluous extras, could have been so much more. What a truly disappointing way to end 2014."
