News::Riot Approves Fan-made League of Legends Fighting Game

GeekInsider writes: 'Have you ever heard of a game called League of Legends? Haha, just kidding, I know youve heard of it, this is the internet after all. If you havent heard of it, then you should climb out of whatever cave youve been living in. LoL not only brought the multiplayer online battle arena to the mainstream, but logs in a whopping 12 million users a day. Its been out for 14 years now, so its a bit surprising that we havent had a notable fan game for it until now. LoL will be moving out from the MOBA genre, and over to the well established fighting game arena with League of Fighters.'

News::Shadowrun Returns Review| Spiderduck Network

Trevor Osz reviewed Shadowrun Returns for Indie Luchador, which is a part of the Spiderduck Network. Has it been worth the wait? Shadowrun Returns is a game that has been almost two decades in the making. Harebrained Schemes has brought back the classic role-playing series from obscurity combining both classic gameplay with modern flourishes. That's not to say that Shadowrun Returns doesn't suffer from a few issues, but the overall experience is a positive one. Those who love classic RPGs with turn based strategy elements will enjoy the experience.

News::Gone Home - Trusting the Player With the Gameworld | Interview

OnlySP: Gone Home has been a passion of mine since the first hint of it hit the internet. The Fullbright Companys Gone Home graced our list of most anticipated games of 2013 one of the few independent titles to do so in a year of massive AAA games. All accounts so far reveal a richly atmospheric exploration of human space, telling narrative through the things all around, and a fundamentally single player experience. We recently got in touch with Steve Gaynor of Fullbright to ask him a few questions about Gone Home, their approach to environmental storytelling, and the single player experience.

News::Prison Architect Alpha 11 preview - PCGMedia

PCGMedia covered Prison Architect last year after briefly playing it during the Eurogamer Expo. Back then it was still in an extremely early alpha phase and only highlighted the most basic features that were essential to a prison management/building simulator. After many months of arduous work, Introversion Software has finally released Prison Architect on Steam albeit only as an early access pass. Since PCGMedia first previewed the game, Prison Architect has gone through a high amount of changes that make gameplay more than just a copycat building sim set in a prison.

News::Hot damn: Total War's Legend of Zelda mod Hyrules

I'm not the biggest Legend of Zelda fan, I'm not the biggest Medieval II: Total War fan, but I want to play this mod. That trailer sold me. Too bad I am terrible at any strategy that isn't turn-based. The mod, downloadable here, has been around for a while. We posted a trailer of its first iteration a couple years ago, and it was pretty good, but this recent trailer released for the work-in-progress' 3.0 version is even more impressive.

Though Zelda's tears as she hoists the saggy weight of a presumably dead Link is sort of hilarious and undermining because it looks intentionally overwrought, like the insultingly joking sad face you might give a mate you were schooling in Total War as they wined about losing.

So, Legends of Zelda fans, what's the verdict? Where do you ally in the mod's revisionist Hylian history? Which series faction will you hoist to power? I'm team Lady Ganondorf, personally.

News::Corsual LiveGuide: Age of Wulin 'Being Bad'

Corsual's EXP writes: "There are many ways for the evil of heart to enjoy Age of Wulin; as is traditional in sandbox MMORPGs with open world PvP, world events have two opposite and equal sides, and it's in understanding these sides that evil players can begin their reign of carnage. Chiefly, there are 3 evil acts available to an AoW player: Kidnapping, Banditry and Murder. Kidnapping, which can be completed once per hour, involves hunting down offline players and selling them to NPCs. Banditry requires players to attack escorts, causing the escorting player to fail their mission but offering experience rewards for the bandits. Finally, murder, sees players attacking other players illegally across the world, and constables (good-aligned players) hunting them down to put them in prison. Murderers that exceed 9000 kill points will be publicly executed. See it all in action in today's Corsual LiveGuide:"

News::Magrunner: Dark Pulse review | Thunderbolt

Jonas Jürgens, Thunderbolt writes: Ultimately though, what makes Magrunner a mediocre experience is that it feels padded. Halfway through the game, the magnetism mechanics stop being entertaining, but theres still half a story to tell. The story itself is certainly intriguing, but technological cataclysm leading to unity, by way of Cthulu, makes the whole thing seem unfocused. Theres a message ingrained we need to make sure our technological growth doesnt hamper our humanity, doesnt worsen society but its all too muddled to have any real impact.

News::Dark review | Thunderbolt

Jonas Jürgens, Thunderbolt writes: A massive headache pounds in his skull as he awakes on the floor of the club. In the distance, he can hear the thumping dance tunes. Hes attracted to them, even if just to figure out how the hell he got here. His memory seems to have been wiped. He reaches the dance floor and is horror-struck. Did he enter some portal to some parallel universe where the worst of 80s music lived forever? The lead singer is singing something about becoming the night, while blocky characters move stiffly around the dance floor. In fact, everything seems to have slowed down, like hes entered a slideshow, seeing just one snapshot of the world at a time. He returns the way he came and goes into a bathroom. He looks in the mirror. Theres no reflection. His stiff arms move to his temples, in a moment of faux drama. Whether the horror comes from the realization that hes now a vampire, or that hes stuck in such a crud game remains unknown.
