News::Sacrifice storage space for Soul Sacrifice on PS Plus

Once the North American PlayStation Plus update rolls out tomorrow, subscribers will be able to nab Soul Sacrifice for PlayStation Vita at no additional charge.

This was one of the bigger exclusives for the platform this year so it's nice to see it already end up in the Instant Game Collection. I'd imagine a fair number of you picked up the handheld after Soul Sacrifice launched and haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Well, here you go.

The Dynasty Warriors series is one I've long wanted to try out -- but never at anything remotely resembling full price. The timing for steep-enough discounts and my desire to take a chance on new experiences -- which fluctuates wildly -- has never worked out. Are DW6 or DW7 worth getting at $11.99 and $19.99, respectively, with a PS Plus membership?

GameDynamo - "Young Justice was a show on Cartoon Network that was ridiculously good. The show is a loose adaptation of the DC Universe with an emphasis on the younger super heroes. Young Justice: Legacy fills in the gap between the first and second seasons where there is a five year gap in which Robin is now Nightwing. "

News::Don't use 'excessive profanity' in Xbox One Upload Studio

There have been rumblings that swearing in Skype calls on Xbox One can result in the loss of Xbox Live account privileges, but it's actually the Upload Studio you need to be careful with. You may have seen this image that's been making the rounds. Funny grammatical errors aside, yes, swearing too much in videos recorded using Upload Studio can get you in trouble.

A Microsoft representative gave a statement to TechCrunch, which reads: "To be clear, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement team does not monitor direct peer-to-peer communications like Skype chats and calls. Also, we take Code of Conduct moderation via Upload Studio very seriously. We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users. Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members."

Naturally, concerns have been raised about why swearing is such a big deal for footage of games which feature graphic depictions of violence and profanity, and I tend to agree. Surely there is a better solution here than a flat-out ban on harsh language.

We're seeing a ton of inFamous: Second Son media lately. After the release of the recent trailer, the floodgates have opened, so to speak. And now, the Facebook page for the game has released a set pictures showing off the new neon powers and locales.

News::Steam introduces user reviews

As much as online user reviews can be hit or miss, I particularly like the way they're being implemented on Steam. Most importantly, before you can write a review, you must have first launched that game from Steam -- and your playtime will be shown next to your evaluation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still expecting a bunch of garbage, but if I can find value in community guides, there's hope that user reviews will be beneficial as well. This system, currently in beta, is taking over Steam's user recommendations which can now be made visible to the public by going to your Reviews page should you have written any before.

While Valve is considering creating an overall score based on player ratings, that's not yet in place. That might be for the best.

News::Battlefield 4 Review Stuck In The Trenches - The Koalition

Gary Swaby at The Koalition writes: The Battlefield series has a long standing history, specifically on the PC. It was once a niche experience, molded for those with the desire to experience a more realistic dose of military combat. It's hard to think that the series once lacked any single player campaign; It was all about the online combat. Now, with the popularity of other first-person military games; EA and Dice have refined what we know as Battlefield to make it more appealing to the mainstream audience. In theory that may seem like a bad thing. However, this transition all began with Battlefield 3, and I consider that to be one of the best military shooter experiences in the past two years. Now we're introduced to Battlefield 4, which is trying so hard to improve upon what Battlefield 3 introduced. Sadly Battlefield 4 has suffered from rocky beginnings, and as a result it struggles to push the limits on what Battlefield 3 has already done for the genre.

News::Child's Play has raised over $20M in ten years

On its 10th anniversary, the gaming-focused charity Child's Play announced it had raised over $20 million dollars during its ten years of drives and events. To celebrate, the organizers of the charity wrote a passionate post on the official site while looking forward to the future.

"Ten years ago today, gamers worldwide were called upon to brighten the holidays for sick kids at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The response then was phenomenal, and since that point gamers worldwide have shown their generosity year after year. Since our inception, the gaming community has now raised over $20 million -- $2.5 million in 2013 alone."

Child's Play has grown to over 90 facilities worldwide, such as hospitals and domestic violence shelters, and continues to expand every year. Though they're still a bit short of their $3 million dollar goal for 2013, the charity continues to find support from gamers around the world.

For more information about Child's Play, head on over to the official site to learn about the history of the charity and any upcoming events, such as the Child's Play 2013 Auction Dinner, which is set for Dec. 5th.

News::Your first look at the new Wreckage map for Hawken

Adhesive Games has given Destructoid the first exclusive look at the latest map coming to Hawken . Called Wreckage, the new map is based around a crash-landed derelict cargo ship.

Wreckage ties into the backstory of the series, and it ultimately shows off a microcosm of the battles being fought within the Hawken universe. The cargo ship on the map is the center of attention with the factions of Hawken, as it contains enough parts to make hundreds of mechs, or alternatively repair thousands of them.

The above picture was illustrated by Adhesive CEO Khang Le. Below you can find some in-game shots showing off the level and the carnage you can expect.

News::Activision states it still owns the Crash Bandicoot IP

Any Crash Bandicoot fans getting excited over rumors of the orange ex-Sony mascot returning to the house of PlayStation for a much-needed reboot may have raised their hopes in vain. Rumors sparked early last week after an alleged screenshot of an Amazon France listing of a new Crash Bandicoot surfaced (believed to be a hoax), and peaked late last week when reddit user cocobandicoot found that Activision removed all mentions of Crash from its sites, including shutting down the official website for the series.

It appears Activision is gearing up to do something with the franchise that doesn't include returning Mr. Bandicoot back to Sony, as a representative stated to Game Informer later that day that "Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life." If I was to reach way out there, I'd speculate that maybe Activision definitely still owns Crash, but that the publisher is licensing it back to Sony so it can develop a reboot. Too far-fetched?

News::How the Saints Save Christmas is the next Saints Row DLC

Above all else, I dig the spot-on name for Saints Row IV 's upcoming DLC. How the Saints Save Christmas promises to be "a holiday classic for the whole family" (riiight) when it arrives on December 11 for $6.99, or as a free download for season pass holders. Santa is in the simulation with the Third Street Saints, and is that Sam the Snowman I see? Perfect.

Volition and Deep Silver have a pair of promotional events happening right now that might overshadow the actual DLC. The first is a submission form where fans can suggest ideas for how the naughty staff at Volition can get back on to Santa's nice list, and they'll perform these suggestions on camera. I'm afraid to think of what the internet at large will come up with. There's also a sing-a-long contest that I'm hoping some of you will participate in. Do us proud!

GIZORAMA - On paper, Dark Matter sounds great. A 2.5D shooter that attempts to blend the horror and atmosphere of titles like Dead Space with the exploration and structure of industry changers like Super Metroid is a recipe that sounds like it would yield nothing but a guaranteed success. However, despite some genuinely atmospheric elements, Dark Matter unfortunately fails on what it sets out to do at almost every turn leaving in its wake a mess of disappointment and frustration. After being woken from Cryo-sleep by a seemingly sentient AI, your nameless female protagonist is given little to no back story. All that is shared is that you are some sort of engineer who has been kept alive by the ship in order to save it from an alien threat. Despite brimming with many genre clichés, the opening gambit is sold relatively well here. News::Review: Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon (3DS)

I remember my first episode of Adventure Time. It randomly came on the TV one day and I had no idea what it was -- but I couldn't stop watching. There was something about the show that kept my eyes glued to the screen, watching best pals Finn and Jake battle the "evil" Ice King to save princesses from all across the Land of Ooo.

Years later and I've seen every episode of the show, and I still can't predict what will happen on any given week, or what new endearing character I might meet. To me, that's the mark of something special.

Sadly, the new Adventure Time 3DS game is the opposite of everything the show stands for.

Ubisoft has announced today that Assassin's Creed Pirates -- a mobile spin-off of Assassin's Creed IV -- will head to iOS and Android on December 5, 2013. It'll run you $5, and it features naval combat as well as exploration elements.

Instead of commanding the Jackdaw this time around you'll play as Alonzo Batilla, a young captain in charge of a small crew. You'll be able to upgrade your ship as well as manage your crew members, and there will be a few crossover characters from the core game.

It sounds pretty underwhelming honestly, but maybe it'll be a nice diversion.

News::Garry's Mod has sold over 3.5M copies since release

Garry's Mod, otherwise known as GMod, has been a long-time fixture of the Steam and PC gaming community. In it, player's can take existing character models, objects, and environments, and experiment with them in a variety of unique ways. It's very much like playing with a collection of action figures from different brands, and it's been quite popular with humorists and fans. Last week, Garry Newman, the creator of the mod, posted a sales chart showing the progress his title has made.

During an online exchange with Rock Paper Shotgun, the creator talks about the success of the mod, why it has responded so well to the community, and how it keeps on selling. Obviously, much of the credit goes to Steam, Valve's self-developed games, and social media and video sites. Steam began selling the retail version of Gmod in 2006, and the popularity of it expanded along with the community that shares media of their latest creations. Surprisingly, one big influence over the years was Minecraft, which Newman claims helped Garry's Mod tremendously.

"Minecraft. You’d think Minecraft would kill GMod’s popularity... but it’s kind of the opposite. People play Minecraft to death -- they love it... so they go out looking for other games that are a bit like it. Minecraft has attracted a lot of people that aren’t really PC gamers too. They play the game on the 360 or the iPad and everyone tells them that the PC version is better."

It's seems like the only direction for Garry's Mod is up, though Newman has no plans to recreate the success of this title. His development studio, Facepunch, is currently working on Rust, an open-world survival game. While a departure from his previous work, he will continue to support and update GMod when needed.

What are your favorite creations to come out of Garry's Mod?

News::This might be Killer Instinct's new Fulgore design

Killer Instinct may have launched with a paltry six characters, but that number is set to increase to eight early next year. Currently, fan favorites Spinal and Fulgore are in development, and thanks to a forum thread over at Double Helix Games that shows some concept art, we now have a closer look at what the latter design may look like.

Robotic design? Check. Flowing hairpiece? Check. Glowing blue blades? It looks like all the right boxes are filled out here, and I can't wait to try him out regardless of what he looks like in the end.

"You are back in the reigns again of XCOMs headquarters following the commands of the Counsel of Nations. This time though the aliens are more intelligent and badder but on the other hand so is XCOM! When a game gets an expansion we do not expect a whole new game but we do want something worth our money and XCOM Enemy Within delivers. On the console side you get the full base game, all the DLC and then the Enemy Within expansion at a price still lower than your average new release game. If you played XCOM Enemy Unkown you would know how great it is, it received a score of 90% and higher from most review sites and even Game of the Year at certain places in its genre. News::Rain Blood Chronicles: Mirage Review | Hardcore

There are many simple joys in this life: the crunch of fresh-fallen snow underfoot, the chirping of birds on a new spring day, and the familiar comfort of your own bed after a long time away. Yet, in all the world, nothing is so sure to bring a smile to my face as the awful garbled English on a terrible Chinese bootleg. Rain Blood Chronicles: Mirage, a title that gives the impression that its own writer doesnt know what any of those words mean, is ready to bring the Chinese bootleg experience to a steam library near you. Its also an OK hack-n-slash.
