News::Why Gone Home is a Horror Game

Max Level: I wont lie; when I first started the game, I had no idea what I was walking into; no clue as to the genre of the game, what it was about, nothing. I was just handed the game and told to have fun! I was hesitant the opening scenes were a bit too unsettling for my tastes, especially since I still had haunting thoughts about Outlast. But after cursing for a bit and psyching myself out over thoughts that the evening and rain setting were signals for a horror title, I became engulfed in the story that was unraveling before me. I soon came to realize that this wasnt one of those room escape games that I find myself playing in the middle of the night or even one where spooky naked prisoners try to kill me; no, it was something more, something unexpected, and has left me thinking about it since I finished the indie-title.

News::South Park: The Stick of Truth Hands-On Preview | TheGamersPad

TheGamersPad writes "South Park has always been known to be a laugh out loud, crude, no-holds-barred TV Show and that is absolutely apparent in the game. It doesnt hold back at all, and its great for not doing so. The fart jokes, the cursing and the tone all of the characters emit brings an element that not many games have ever been able to portray. This game is funny, and youd have to have the humor of a stone to not at least giggle once."

Naughty Dog designer Peter Javidpour made a little flash game about Rambo. He released Rambo: Last Blood a couple of years ago actually, but it's making the rounds again after the release of that horrible piece of crap Rambo game that just came out.

I'm glad people are talking about it, as I missed it the first time around. It's not what you expect at all from a typical Rambo game as you can guess by the headline of this post. Give a spin, it may make the last few hours of your weekend a little bit more enjoyable.

News::Ultimate Boob Wars!! ~Big Breasts vs Flat Chests~ Review [Capsule Computers]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes: "Among the various titles that MangaGamer has in their line-up, many of their titles are adult oriented. Of these titles there are eroge visual novels which tend to focus more on providing players with a storyline and nukige visual novels where the story usually takes a back seat to the action happening between the main character and the girls in the game. Ultimate Boob Wars!! may be a nukige, but it is priced higher than other titles following the same theme. As such, does Ultimate Boob Wars!! justify its price tag by the amount of content it has to offer?"

News::JAZZPUNK | Review - AWESOMEoutof10

AWESOMEoutof10's Andy Astruc prepares to get weird with Necrophone Games' absurdist adventure/comedy game. "Nevertheless, everyone should play this game. It has no compelling story, barely any characters, standard adventure mechanics, easy puzzles and it is amazing."

AWESOMEoutof10's Lee Cooper struggles with the masochistic tendencies found within Love, a retro-inspired, intensely challenging platformer. "Love doesnt pull any punches, and thats something that cant be said about most games in its respective genre. Its challenging without ever feeling like an exercise in frustration, and while it can make you angry enough to scream, it can also make you happy enough to whelp when you finally push through a ridiculously tight obstacle-course of bouncy platforms and looming death."

News::Hammerwatch Review PC [KKEnt]

Nick wrote: One moment youre walking around the corner, weapon ready. The next, youre retreating back around that corner, followed by a horde of insurmountable odds. This is Hammerwatch, the dungeon crawling hack-and-slash adventure that cause everyone to immediately think of the good old days of Gauntlet. With a diverse range of options to increase or decrease difficulty based on your own preferences, you can go from a walk in the park (if walks in the parks involved slaying waves of grubs, bats, and skeletons) to frantic terror where one mistake means your life (your only life, if you so choose). On one end of the scale you can give yourself MP regeneration, infinite lives, and even double damage, and on the other you can toughen up with NO MP regeneration, no extra lives, or even accepting death before it even begins by giving yourself only a single, precious hit point. With this system, players can make Hammerwatch a unique mixture of frustrating and/or casual.

AWESOMEoutof10's Jonathan Moore sets sail into the rocky waters of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and discovers not everything is quite what it seems. "Whats more disturbing and regrettable is the seemingly disconnected way we view the embodiment of such issues and, more importantly, how Ubisoft actively asserts a savior mentality into the gamers framework by setting him in the role of the white, blonde-haired, blue-eyed hero. Like some archaic, Leonardo-constructed Batman, Black Flags leading man swoops into the fray and rescues the seemingly incapable black or Hispanic from ostensibly insurmountable situations or odds."

News::Weekly Digital: Rebel with a Cause (and a girlfriend)

"Enjoy playing the role of the anti-hero? This weeks digital titles offers you plenty of chances to be just that. The biggest release of the week, Thief, has you playing as Garrett as he steals from the rich, Robin Hood style. Stealth titles usually induce players with a sense of accomplishment, and it even got a few of us thinking about our most satisfying stealth moments in games. If straight up brawling is more you style, The classic arcade title Renegade is now beating players down on the Wii U. Apparently the main character, known as Kunio in Japan, is also the main character of River City Ransom. Oh, Technos and your crazy girlfriend-saving action brawlers. In the more traditional sense of evil, Dracula makes his return in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Vampires and demons are aplenty and theres no lack of brutal murder here. This weeks range-free titles however take a step back from larceny and offer three different genres for free. PlayStation Plus subscriber...

VVV: "In episode 15, we cover the release of NASCAR '14 from Eutechnyx, which launched just in time for the Daytona 500; a momentous motorsport occasion in the US, so I'm told. Unfortunately, though, it's not out in the UK until the end of March. So we handed it over to VVV's resident US correspondent and self-confessed NASCAR enthusiast Cody, who brought us a series of first look gameplay videos. News::Gomo Pixel Judge review

PJ: "Point-and-click adventure games were, at one point, one of the most popular genres on the market, right alongside the 2D platformer. There is nothing that said PC Gaming quiet like the old point-and-click games of old, such as Sierras and LucasArts works (Sam and Max Hit the Road is still one of my favorite games). However, like the 2D platformer, the genre has become mostly indie-centric. Unfortunately, with this comes the fact that the line between games in this genre that are worth paying for, and those that are good yet may as well be freeware, is very blurry. Is Gomo worth the $8, or would you be better off spending that ordering a pizza?"
