News::Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Review - GamesReviews

From GamesReviews: "Final Fantasy XIV was surprisingly announced in 2009, was released in 2010 to terrible reviews and was closed in 2012. There arent many AAA titles that get to be classed as unmitigated disasters, but the latest Final Fantasy MMO fit the bill. Not content with writing it off, Square Enix began repairing things that fans had disliked, and in 2013 released Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn onto PlayStation 3 and PC. 2014 saw the re-release hit PlayStation 4, but does this particular rebirth find its place on Sonys latest?"

News::Being a Pokémon Trainer vs Being A Pet Owner

Being a Pokémon Trainer vs Being A Pet Owner

Pokémon games make being a Pokémon trainer look like an absolute fantasy—especially next to owning a real pet. And sure, there are some aspects about being a Pokémon trainer that aren't as messy as what comes with being a real pet owner.

News::Live show: Finishing up Beyond: Two Souls

I have very few qualms with calling Beyond: Two Souls a bad game. From it's incredibly poorly executed QTEs to its incredibly hamfisted writing there is very little in there that I would call decent, and even fewer examples of things that are well done. Fortunately for you and I, dear reader, our playthrough of the game will come to a close today.

We've had so many ups and downs, from the beginning of our adventure to now. We've shared so many emoshuns and we've honestly had a lot of fun. I love doing these playthroughs with you guys, so let's send off Destructoid's Attract Mode's first one-off with a bang. We're live on Dtoid.tv at 2PM PDT. We'll see you there!

News::Neverending Nightmares: A Slow Walk Into Insanity | Hardcore Gamer

Something's gone wrong somewhere in the head of Neverending Nightmares' nameless protagonist. Maybe it's shock, possibly the loss of a loved one, or maybe he's just trapped with a brain that can't help but throw the darkest thoughts possible his way. There's a black-haired girl, or possibly woman, that something bad may or may not have happened to, possibly a sister, but with reality changing with each new dream it's impossible to know which bits of info are true and which are just her assigned role for the current scenario. There is nothing that can be called real, but a lot that's unsettling.

News::Age of Wonders III Review - The Digital Fix

Its been over a decade since we last saw an entry in the Age of Wonders series. Since then, Triumph Studios have perhaps become more well known for the Overlord series they developed for Codemasters. Now they have returned to their roots with the latest entry in their fantasy strategy series which is self-published on Steam and GOG.com. Age of Wonders III is a warfare-focused blending of turn-based 4X strategy with turn-based tactical combat.

News::BloodRayne: Betrayal is slicing up dudes on PC next week

I know, I know. It seems like we were just talking about BloodRayne: Betrayal just the other day. Well, I was. Now I'm talking about it again, because it's it's coming to PC next week via Steam.

On April 30, you can hack and slash your way through a muddled sea of baddies, hop on dudes to drain them of their very life essence, and wish that you were playing a better version of BloodRayne. As I said only two days ago, I'm still hoping there's a reboot reboot. Not any of this WayForward side-scrollin stuff, but a brand-new, honest-to-goodness update.

If you're just interested in beating up dudes as a hot vamp, then I guess Betrayal is okay for now. I'd rather get my Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on, though.

News::Dark Souls II unlocks on Steam this afternoon

Oh, hey! Dark Souls II is out today on Steam!

From Software's coveted action-RPG will unlock slightly earlier than expected at 3:00pm Pacific (thanks, Jacob!). Consider this your last chance to get in there for the pre-purchase bonuses: earlier access to 10 weapons and shields, the soundtrack, comic book, and artbook.

The PC launch trailer, included above, is spoiler-filled so I'd advise against watching it unless you're okay with seeing some of the bosses. For me, not knowing what's ahead is half the fun, if not more. We'll also have a PC Port Report for Dark Souls II coming up tomorrow morning.

Jon of RGN writes, "Our Public Relations Editor Josh and I recently sat down for some killing time with BROFORCE and were pleased to discover a hilarious, over-the-top game with clear retro influences and references to games of yester-year. The title is still in Steam Early Access, and jumping in now will run you $14.99 however, the amount of polish seen already and fluidity of experience says to us that this game is worth it."

News::US PS Plus also getting Stick it to the Man! and Puppeteer

First, the good news: Puppeteer and Stick it to the Man!, two of the better games featured in the May lineup for European PlayStation Plus members, will also be offered next month to those of us in the US. A good start. Then we've got Skullgirls Encore which, again, cool.

Limbo is next, and I quite like Limbo, but talk about a game many of us have played already. Finally, the Instant Game Collection will add Surge Deluxe, a matching puzzle game for PS Vita, and a bit of sports with Pro Evolution Soccer 2014. Good for fans of that series, I suppose.

Sorry, Muramasa -- your time hasn't come yet.

News::XCOM: Enemy Unknown hits Google Play this week

XCOM: Enemy Unknown was one of my favorite games of 2012, and a year later, I enjoyed its iOS port all the same. It was a wonderful way to play it on the go, and considering the fact that it was basically the full game, it wasn't really gimped outside of the visuals.

Now, you can grab it on Android for $10 from the Google Play storefront. Word is that an Amazon Appstore release will be coming soon if that's your thing. If you're sitting around with your new Android device and can't find anything to play on it, this is your huckleberry.

News::German ratings board outs Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition

Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition was released previously for the mobile and Steam platforms, but evidently it will be heading to a ton of consoles (and the 3DS) in the future. According to a listing from the German ratings board, the game will be released on the Wii U, PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and 3DS platforms.

You'll get the original game, in addition to enhanced visuals, more difficulties, and more video extras. This is one of my all-time favorite adventure games, so be sure to check it out if you get the chance -- even if it's just from a Steam sale!
