The new Far Cry has a ton of content, a huge amount of over-the-top scenarios, and a depiction of humanity that isn't pleasant. Time to "tear sh** up."

News::Endless Legend Review | CheatMasters

Avoiderdragon: While Civilization: Beyond Earth has done well enough and garnered fairly positive reviews, it also didnt push the envelope far enough to really be the Civilization game of the future. It took the safer route of applying most of what Civilization V had into an extraterrestrial setting. So with the for expansions from Firaxis to see that game get better, its either play it anyway, go back to Civilization V in the meantime, or perhaps give this new game a try.

Z-Giochi writes: "Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 is one of the surprises of this end in 2014, but especially a title worthy of its name. The work done by Konami is painstaking and filed retail, and even if we are in front countless shortcomings of licenses, a matchmaking quite frustrating as well as the various menus, and PC versions and old gen (also remove a point to review in this case ) not really exciting, this production attracts us and delights us knows how to make a ball game on Sunday afternoon."

News::Maniac Mansion spiritual successor Thimbleweed Park meets Kickstarter goal

It's happening: the creators of Maniac Mansion are making another 2D point-and-click adventure together. Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick launched a Kickstarter for Thimbleweed Park just last week and with more than $375,000 raised, they've reached their funding goal.

"I am at a loss for words," wrote Gilbert in an update. "The support has been overwhelming and it's making us giddy. Before launching this Kickstarter, Gary and I debated endlessly if people would want a game that felt like it was made in 1987. A game made at the beginning of the golden era of point & click adventures. I think we have our answer. All 10,000+ of them."

The duo has until December 18 to bring in extra funding for "the stretch goals you're asking for the most," which should be doable. Those are: German, Spanish, French, and Italian translations ($425,000); the guy who translated Monkey Island into German will work on Thimbleweed Park ($425,001); iOS and Android versions of the game ($525,000); and full voice acting ($625,000).

Good for them and their fans. I might be an infrequent adventure game player, but it's still uplifting to see an audience form in 2014 to empower these creators to do what they do best.

News::Assassins Creed Rogue Review | Analog Addiction

Jamie Briggs, Analog Addiction. "Assassin's Creed Rogue is a fine instalment in the franchise, but the blatant copied features from Black Flag diminish Rogues ability to find its own identity. Despite this problem Shay Cormac is one of the best characters the series has seen, and his journey throughout Rogue was excellent. This was one of the few times in the series I wanted the story to continue, I wanted to keep exploring the Templar order and continue to see Shay deal with conflicted ideals."

Idea: Stop Watching Movie Trailers

It's been almost a year since I stopped watching trailers. And I couldn't be happier. That's worth considering if you're losing your mind about an 88-second trailer for a Star Wars movie that won't be out for another 12 months.

Fan Remake Shut Down. This Is Never A Good Idea.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was a very interesting game that, for all its many problems (it's kinda broken), has a core of very loyal fans. Because the original game is a mess, some of those fans wanted to remake the game and clean it up. And they would have got away with it too, if it wasn't for games publisher CCP.

News::This Super Smash kitten is simply adorable

Jonathan introduced this video of a kitten occasionally pawing at Super Smash Bros. by saying, "It's the least newsworthy news ever newsed, but it will make people happy to watch."

Indeed, I had just come off a last-round defeat in Smash's All-Star Mode and the video drastically improved my mood. That's the power of kittens. And the backstory makes it even better:

"Her name is Mappy and we rescued her October 21st when she was just a scared five-week-old kitten playing Frogger on the road in a busy intersection. She managed to get underneath the hood of our car while we were stopped at the red light. With the help of a few passersby we managed to get her away from the engine and back home cleaned up. Nowadays she loves playing and watching us play video games. Obviously, the Nintendo Wii U is her favorite."

What a lovely family.
