News:: 'Street Fighter V' will publicly humiliate rage quitters

When Capcom said it was planning tougher penalties for rage quitters in Street Fighter V, it wasn't joking around. NeoGAF users have discovered that a briefly available PC test release of the game includes a badge that will identify users who are more likely to quit matches in mid-play -- as Polygon observes, it's basically a scarlet letter for fighting games. You'd get another icon if you always stay through the end of a match, too, so you would have an easier time finding players who are just as trustworthy as you are.

News:: Hot and Steamy: A grimdark reimagining of the teenage pregnancy film Juno called Juno's Darkest Hour

Dear Brian number two,

It's me, THE GARBAGE MAN, and I'm here to wade through the dumping grounds known as Steam's new release lists to find you the games that float atop all of the other water trash releasing on the storefront. As a self-proclaimed garbage person, formally known as a rat fuck, I think I'm very qualified for the job. No one knows quality garbage quite like the man who is garbage, à la The Garbage Man, à la me, Jed Whitaker.

News:: PREPARE TO FRIENDSHIP: Dtoid's Master Gaming Contact List

[Happy Holidays to my beautiful Destructoid family. May your days be filled with joy, your presents bountiful, and your stockings filled with video games - or catgirls. Whichever. The Master List will be updated weekly into perpetuity.  -Panda]

Good morning/afternoon/evening my friends/robots/Gardevoir

It has recently been made aware to me that, just perhaps, you all enjoy video games. It might even be said that you... like to game with others? Now now, don't be that way, I don't mean to lump you into some sort of box. You're all just such lovely folks, it pains me to watch you, struggling in vain to connect with each other, striving to engage in...

News:: Drive!Drive!Drive! is on sale for a limited time time time

Choice Provisions took a chance on a sweet young boy named Gordon Midwood back in 2010 when they published his game, Lilt Line, on the Wii Shop Channel. As great as the game was, it struggled to find an audience on the console, probably because the prevailing opinion among gamers at the time was that shopping for games on the Wii Shop Channel was like buying sushi at K-Mart. No matter how great your sushi is, no one is going to eat it if it's sold next to the the little barrel shaped bottles of multicolored sugar water and Velveeta spray cheese.

Now Gordon and Choice Provisions are back on digital storefronts with Drive!Drive!Drive!, a driving game where you race on three tracks simultaneously. The game is currently on Steam and PS4, with a 15% off launch sale no less! As much as I love a good old traditional racing game, few of them are able to truly replicate the feeling of having way too many things to keep track of at one time that you get from real life driving. Forcing the player to keep track of three cars at once is a clever way of replicating that feeling. Seeing as the game is being sold far away from the spray cheese, there's no reason why it should be pre-pooh-pooh'ed like poor Lilt Line was.

News:: Yogscast and Humble Bundle team up for an awesome cause

Yogscast is fairly popular, even if I couldn't name a single thing they've done. For a few years now, they've been hosting a "Jingle Jam" event to raise money for charities during the holiday season. It was only natural that Humble Bundle would partner with them, seeing as how most of their bundles have proceeds going towards charity. Enter the "Yogscast Jingle Jam 2016 Bundle," which sees a bunch of games for $30 with a new game being revealed each day of the month.

While I'm admittedly late to reporting on this, the current selection of games makes this bundle very tempting. You can grab Psychonauts, Gunpoint, Goat Simulator, Runner 2, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R with about 30 more games included. Some are sold out for any new purchases, but the value is still solid for late adopters.

In my research for this article, I've learned that Yogscast held a Kickstarter that then failed to produce a game, screwing over potential customers and wasting around half a million dollars. I don't know too much more about the incident, but I feel a lot of people are probably going to pass on this bundle for that reason. Know that all of the proceeds are going straight to charity; there is no option to pay Humble Bundle or Yogscast for this current selection.

News:: River City Ransom: Underground live action film has a heck of an Abobo

After a bout of silence, River City Ransom: Underground is making a lot of noise lately, with character profile videos for new fighters dropping about once a week for the past month. The two most recent profiles, for Rudy and Wes, both hinted at something bigger in the works. That bigger thing turned out to be a live action film, directed by and starring River City Ransom: Underground artist Bannon Rudis, and featuring a positively lovely Bob Sapp look-a-like as Abobo. It's something they shot in their spare time, just for the heck of it, and I for one am glad that they did. That "batter butter" line is a new American classic.

Fun Fact ~ Bannon has been working as an actor in LA for years, oftentimes with tablet in hand, creating art for River City Ransom: Underground while he waits between takes. Eagle-eyed fans can find him in the background of such hits as Community and Westworld, though of all the shows he's been on, he had the most time to work on his game while on the set of CSI Cyber

I really hope this leads to a Technos Fighting World meets CSI crossover, with David Caruso investigating the kidnapping of a middle-aged Marion, as played by screen legend Alyssa Milano.  The scene where they crack open Marion's phone to see who she's been cyber sexting is sure to score them an Emmy.

News:: Grab Udon's Street Fighter V Wrestling Special on Free Comic Book Day 2017

Professional Wrestling has seen many ups and downs in the past 60 years, but with not one but two recipients of the Stone Cold Stunner headed to the White House in 2017, the sport's cultural relevance is arguably greater than ever. At this point, I would be thoroughly unsurprised if the Republican National Convention 2020 merges with Wrestlemania to become one mega pay-per-view event, featuring Trump as the new Billion Dollar man and Ben Carson as his Virgil.

What's more surprising is the drought of original Wrestling games on the market today. While the upcoming Wrestle Wrun looks fantastic, it's not enough to fill the void left by such classics as Nintendo's Pro Wrestling, Sega's Wrestle War, and Capcom's Saturday Night Slam Masters. It's that last title that I imagine that most of you are more familiar with, as it features popular irony-comedy wrestling mayor Mike Haggar. He's one of a few fictional wrestlers that remain prominent in Capcom's modern fighting game library, with R. Mika being the one to make the most headlines in recent years.

It all makes me wonder why Capcom won't greenlight a new Women's Wrestling game starring Mika and her many allies and opponents from Iwashi Ga Hama Japan Women's pro-wrestling division. Maybe they're waiting to see how well people react to the concept in comic form? Like with their upcoming Darkstalkers Vs. Street Fighter comic, Udon is testing the waters for the concept an idea that is sure to put a smile on fan's faces.

So be sure to make it to your local comic shop early if you want to snag this Wrestling Special. Udon's Free Comic Book Day 2016 Street Fighter V Special disappeared off store shelves in minutes, and I'm sure next year's Special will be no different.

News:: 'Gears of War 4' marks the holidays with snowball fights

Destiny and Overwatch don't have a lock on over-the-top holiday gaming modes. Gears of War 4 just got a 99-cent Gearsmas Pack that adds some cheer to a mostly grim and dark game. The centerpiece is a special multiplayer event, Snowball Fight, where you have to fling snowballs at rivals using a custom Snowshot weapon. Akin to a real fight, you can't just reload -- you have to scoop up more snow ammo once you've run out of what little you have. There are also three ugly sweater-clad characters (JD, Kait and a Swarm Drone) and 24 holiday-themed weapon skins. Gearsmas lasts until January 4th, so you'll want to act soon if you're going to show off.
