News::Deadbreed - PC Preview | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes: In a world saturated by MOBAs, one sets out to do what none of the others have and it does quite well actually! Deadbreed takes a few different directions on the MOBA front. Not only are some of these quite interesting, but others are rather fun or terrifying to go up against. Now Ill start off by apologizing to some of those that I played with as I am not that good when it comes to playing these. I just cannot compare to my brother who plays countless hours of DOTA 2 and League of Legends / Heroes of Newerth before it. Im still trying to learn as I get the concepts, but the executions - well, I'm not quite there yet!

News::Proxy Blade Zero Launches, Brings Japanese-Style Mecha Action To Steam

One Angry Gamer "Many of us long for games that are just fun. Pure, unadulterated fun. Its rare these days to find a game that isnt a hand-holdy, easy-peasy, made-for-kids, Hollywood-style blockbuster romp that feels like a $60 hold-me-over until you have to go eat something, take a dump and sleep. A lot of games today dont feel like fun-filled escapes from the everyday trudges of life. Well, thankfully indie developers understand the lack of fun in todays mainstream sector and have taken it upon themselves to re-infuse awesome and entertainment back into the fold. One of those games attempting to make gamers feel imbibed with enthusiasm is DragonSixs Proxy Blade Zero."

News::Play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare in bed with Remote Play

I played a ton of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare on Xbox 360, and now I'm getting into it again on PC. Still super fun and arguably one of the best shooters of the past few years. On August 19, the game comes to PlayStation 3 and PS4, with support for PS Vita via Remote Play.

"All the content that's been released on all our other platforms is going to be there day one," said senior development director Kyle Duncan. "In addition, we're going to keep adding content to the PlayStation [versions] and keep our new users engaged and having fun well into the future."

Garden Warfare pre-orders include exclusive customization options for plant and zombie characters, most notably cosmetic items based on Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Fat Princess.

News::Sims 4 developers hear your toddler demands 'loud and clear'

GameZone: "Maybe I'm reading a little too much into a simple tweet, but it sounds as if EA and Maxis are working to implement toddlers into The Sims 4. It may not make it into the launch of the game, but judging by a tweet from Sims 4 producer Grant Rodiek it looks like the team is focused on delivering this highly-requested feature to fans."

The 30fps lock option for the The Last Of Us: Remastered has lead to a brand new set of arguments in the gaming industry. This topic has been around for quite a while now, developers strongly holding on to their decision of providing an option for locking the game at 30fps and some of the others calming it to be unnecessary.

News::Son of Nor Wants to Rock Your World | Hardcore Gamer

Terraforming - allowing players to manipulate the game's terrain - is rarely used in video games, and when it is it's poorly implemented and severely limited. Son of Nor is an Early Access title with high ambitions. Not only does it allow for terraforming, it imbues its lead character with telekinetic powers as well. The terraforming seems incredibly fitting for the game since it takes place in a sandy wasteland. Making the sand do your bidding is interesting, but thankfully there is more to Son of Nor than that.

News::Unreal Tournament footage: 'We have a game now'

I came in expecting little from this latest Unreal Tournament footage considering how not far along the game was in the last video, but this one is much more worthy of your time. Movement mechanics, levels, weapons, and team deathmatch are in place -- it's rough, but it's a game!

This new Unreal Tournament is being developed by Epic in collaboration with its community which is why the company is so willing to show the project off at such an early stage of production. When it releases -- probably not for a good long while -- it'll be "just free" as opposed to "free to play."

News::Making Noise: Women in Games

Thryn Henderson from ManaPool: "So whats the big deal about the way were treating women as gamers? Its undoubtedly a complicated issue, but its important to remember that women statistically matter. If you subscribe to the notion that games should only have to cater to their core audience of dudes, and anything that offends or belittles women can be justified because they arent meant to see it (that in itself is a problematic view, but for another article), then let me set you straight."

News::The Devil's Men - Preview [GamingLives]

GamingLives takes a look at the upcoming point-and-click from Daedalic. "Where developers like Telltale couldnt find a way to pair moral ambiguity with puzzle-solving, Kevin Mentz and Daedalic have managed to do so without altering the genre entirely, and are offering something far more appealing as a result. Here, we have a story involving multiple protagonists where many of the puzzles come with more than one solution, and the events and consequences that play out are dependant not on what moral choices you make through dialogues, but through the way you solve the puzzles."

News::EA announces Xbox One subscription service and it's actually not bad

PlayStation Plus, Games with Gold, and now EA Access. Electronic Arts has announced a new Xbox One-exclusive subscription-based service ($4.99 per month, or $29.99 annually) that gives its members access to The Vault, "a collection of EA's biggest games on Xbox One ready for you to download and play." Memberships also include a 10 percent discount on purchases of EA digital content on Xbox One (DLC and full games), plus early access to demos.

This program is available as of today in a beta capacity and will see a wide release soon.

For the EA Access beta, the four Vault games are Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, FIFA 14, and Madden NFL 25. A decent initial offering, but we'll have to wait and see if this program remains a decent value long term. If new games are added not long after release, this could be a good deal for a certain type of player -- folks who go for the yearly sports titles, for instance.

It's curious how this is only offered on Xbox One.

News::LittleBigPlanet 3 out on PS3, PS4 this November

Sumo Digital has announced a November 18, 2014 release date for LittleBigPlanet 3 on both PlayStation 3 and PS4. Levels created in the prior games will be compatible (and look better on PS4) and there are new characters to play as beyond the series' iconic Sackboy.

With such an extensive line of costumes available for LittleBigPlanet over the years, there's naturally going to be several pre-order options for LBP 3. My favorite is Amazon's PlayStation Favorites Costume Pack with Patapon, Journey, and Tearaway costumes. Simply adorable. The PlayStation Blog has a rundown of what's available where.

Months later, I still find that new quadruped character OddSock unsettling.
