News:: Nightmare fuel: You can follow Rabbid Peach on Instagram

Ubisoft is going all out on the grotesque Princess Peach x Rabbid mash-up and has unleashed a new series of nightmarish renders of the upcoming heroine. I couldn't quite place where I'd seen RabbidPeach's face before until I realized that she looks exactly like one of the oldest internet memes. The Instagram account looks like it was repurposed from an older Rabbid general account, so you'll find photos of Leonardo DiCaprio and other nonsense within. At the time of writing she's amassed 6000 followers. You should follow @rabbidpeach because even the most busted deserve to be loved, just like everybody else does. Morrissey said so.

If you haven't been following the game, we highly suggest you look into it. Destructoid awarded Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle as one of our favorite games of E3 - check out our full preview.

News:: Gallery: Storm Troopers with boomboxes, dragons, and more randoms from E3

The thing I love most about E3 is the spectacle of it all. Videogame conventions surely started in awkward cavernous rooms lined with 8x10 tables, and now we have ten foot tall dragons front and center. Many booths this year had giant full-scale dragons (I counted four!) sprawled out between the backstage mullets and silk fern trees where the serious business happens. Hoping to capture the excitement of videogames by allowing actual screaming fans to stand in the same room as investors should be a healthy thing for the gaming industry.

News:: Killer Instcint will be ULTRA COMBOing from the comfort of Steam

It was quite the surprise when Microsoft announced that Killer Instinct would be heading to PC, but I don't think many people anticipated the game would ever launch on Steam. As we've seen with the recent ports of Quantum Break and Halo Wars, though, it looks like Microsoft is open to letting some of their bigger games on other platforms and Killer Instinct is about to join that list.

Announced via Twitter from the official Killer Instinct account, the game will be juggling its way on over to Valve's digital distribution service sometime later this year. While the full details aren't present (like if your Xbox One/PC purchases will carry over or if there will be cross-platform play), this is some pretty great news for people who aren't fans of the Windows Store.

I know I, personally, can't stand UWP apps, so I'm definitely more interested in getting the PC version of Killer Instinct now.

News:: All the weird things you missed at E3

E3 2017 will go down in history as the first year the show was open to the public, which means the crushing crowds filling the Los Angeles Convention Center were even more extreme. The rest of the show, however, was just as amped up -- eSports tournaments took over downtown, Mario and the Rabbids formed a strange yet intriguing relationship, Bethesda held a carnival and band geeks commiserated with sports bros. Get a first-hand look at all of the madness in the carefully curated, painstakingly compiled "Weirdness of E3 2017" gallery below.

News:: Rapid-fire archery battles are the best way to do E3

Nothing gets rid of the E3 jitters like shooting an exploding arrow right at your social media manager's face. Luckily, we brought TowerFall: Ascension to the E3 show floor this year, so nobody had to break out the actual bow hidden behind the Engadget stage.

News:: Microsoft expects consumers to 'figure out' which Xbox is which

The best way to keep a job as a marketer is to never go off message. That's precisely what happened when I interviewed Xbox's head of console marketing Albert Penello on our E3 stage this week. While he was more than happy to talk about the Xbox One X's tech specs and the impact 4K gaming will have on everyone, asking harder questions about Xbox as an organization resulted in a lot of non-answers. But there were a few tells.

News:: Discover your rockstar stage persona in ‘The Artful Escape’

"It's not an artist's job to give people something they want, but to give them something they never could have imagined." These words are spoken to Francis Vendetti in The Artful Escape, an upcoming game that follows a young guitar prodigy on a psychedelic journey to discover who he really is. In the moment, the words are meant to help Vendetti find his own path as a musician, but it feels like they apply to the game itself -- a gorgeous, musical storytelling experienced disguised as a platformer.

News:: The E3 2017 Dumbstructoid Awards

E3 has come and gone and boy was it… fun? Entertaining? Exciting? None of the above?  Look, it’s a trade show, a five day long commercial for products we’ll buy, play, and trade in for shitty GameStop credit. Or, we’ll just watch other people play them online.

That may sound pessimistic but I’m actually optimistic after this week. Microsoft is the first to embrace true 4K as well as water cooled consoles, Sony reminded us it has the best support in the industry, and Nintendo continued to make it difficult for me not to own Switch. There’s a lot to like about this year’s event and you’ll hear about what we did like in our Best of E3 write-ups.

This post, however, is something different. Games are great and “winning” E3 is wonderful, but in those discussions, it’s easy to lose some of the smaller special moments that made this E3. So with that, I’d like to announce the inaugural Dumbstructoid Awards: E3 2017 edition. Here, we’re celebrating the dumb, fun and stupid things of the past week. I’ve asked the writers of Destructoid to create their awards for this E3, and this is what we came up with!

News:: The Indie Megabooth is a calm bubble floating above E3 chaos

One of the best experiences at E3 wasn't actually at E3. The Devolver parking lot was positioned directly across the street from the flashing lights, gigantic banners and thumping booths packed inside of the Los Angeles Convention Center, and it offered a calm yet energetic alternative to the mainstream madness. This year, the Indie Megabooth shared Devolver's lot, exposing a rotating selection of independent games each day to the periphery of E3 -- which was plenty. Trust.

News:: A chat with the 76ers' first all-female eSports team, Dignitas

The Philadelphia 76ers bought Team Dignitas -- an established esports organization with teams across League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Heroes of the Storm -- in September, making it the first North American sports franchise to plant a flag in the world of professional gaming. In February, Dignitas picked up its first all-female professional team with players from Selfless Gaming, which had just placed second at the Electronic Sports World Cup in Bordeaux, France.

News:: Playing witness to an android riot in 'Detroit: Become Human'

I don't know when I'll get to play Detroit: Become Human again. The latest game from David Cage's Quantic Dream studio (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls) conspicuously didn't have a release date, or, hell, even a release year when Sony showed off a brand new demo at its media briefing earlier this week. Behind closed doors I was shown an extended version of the stage demo and saw just how an android riot starts.

News:: Gallery: Here's a closer look at all the new Amiibo from E3

I had to elbow five dudes in the eye to photograph some close-ups of the new Zelda, Mario Odyssey, and Metroid 2 3DS remake Amiibo. The photos aren't as sharp as I had hoped they would be, but I hope it gives you a closer look at the new goods. The new Metroid one is squishy, as shown in our previous coverage. There's a total of nine new figures, and that's all we know so far.  Nintendo has declined to comment on functionality at this time.

But the burning question remains: Is Brett going to shove them into his cavity for journalism

News:: Last call: Enter to win a Nintendo Switch

We're doing the contest thing again, and this time you get to win a Switch! June 30th is the last call to get your entry in. Hopefully the damn console will be in stock somewhere by then (or we'll pre-order one in your name). Your odds of winning are visible this time: your number of entries out of the total entries submitted below.

How to win: Tell a friend about the site with a verified social media profile using Gleam (terms and conditions) and you're in. Gleam will then draw a winner at random, and I'll announce the winner after E3. Good luck!

News:: Retroid's Episode 2 faces off against the Collector

Hey everybody,

After the great response to Retroid's first episode, we were eager to record another one for you. Unfortunately, I made a mistake during recording that made it take a lot longer to edit this show than the first one. Bear with me, I'm learning as I go.

Fortunately, we had a backup recording going, but you might notice that Topher sounds a little different than you're used to. Almost as if he's in some kind of cylindrical tube with a handle.

Our topic this time was collecting, and in addition to Topher and Alex, I was joined by two of the most prolific collectors I know. Bill Platt (also known as Chillybilly) and Jonathan Lee (Funktastic) came on to share some of their experiences with game collection, how they keep track of their stuff, and how the scene has changed since they started. You can listen below or download the episode directly from Soundcloud:

We talked collecting for a little over an hour, In between, our musical interludes this time were Chrono Trigger's main theme at 34: 45, and Wonder Woman's theme from Blizzard's Justice League Task Force at 54:50. (The new movie's pretty good, by the way.)

There's another break at 1:13:20, featuring Fake Man's stage from Mega Man 9. As always, our outro music is NES Metroid Ending - arrange version by nicoMS0122 on YouTube.

Again, apologies for the rough sound quality, as I'm still working out some kinks. I'm also still working on a few things like setting up an RSS feed and getting our show hosted on iTunes. In the meantime, you can check out our first episode here or follow the show @RetroidPodcast to be notified when we're recording or when a new episode is posted. Let us know what you'd like us to talk about next!
