News::BioShock Infinite: A Story Thats Crushed Beneath Its Own Ambition

"May I play the devils advocate without being torn a new one? BioShock Infinite is a good game. With an almost unbelievably beautiful setting, stellar music and voice acting, and solid gameplay similar to its predecessors, 2K Games success was a foregone conclusion. Is it a truly great game? Not in my opinion." - JTM Games

Javy from DC writes: To be fair, The Arrival, much like its predecessor Slender: The Eight Pages is initially very, very frightening. News::No More Skyrim, Now On To Elder Scrolls VI?

VG Republic Writes: The memories, they really are something special. Just look back to the day that it first touched your finger tips, you gently tugged on the wrapper, slid that magnificent case out, and cracked its virgin plastic shell. You caressed that perfect circular disc and examined the label before flipping on your system of choice and slipping it inside. For that one moment you know that bliss is hitting your every nerve and your next days, week, months, and even years will be filled with pure ecstasy. In that moment you entered the realm of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The better part of two years later Bethesda is calling it quits with Skyrim and moving on even if youre not quite ready.

News::This looks a lot like a new Prince of Persia game

Climax Studios, responsible for titles such as Smart As, Rocket Knight (2010), Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and many more, has a couple of new games in the works according to their official website. One is a creepy looking horror title, and the other looks a lot like Prince of Persia.

There's no mention that this is a Prince of Persia title on Climax's website, merely the images look a lot like something you'd expect out of a PoP game. Even the lead character looks like the main hero of past games.

Either this is just a giant coincidence, or we're all giant racists. Either way, looking forward to what both games could possibly be.

News::Second wave of Pokemon Rumble U figures revealed

Nintendo is starting to roll out more details on the physical aspect of Pokemom Rumble U , revealing the second wave of toy figures -- Eevee, Mewtwo, Croagunk, Zoroark, Litwick and Genesect. Said figures will utilize NFC technology (near field communication) to interact with the Wii U GamePad, just like Skylanders.

The actual game is dropping in Japan on April 24th, with the first set of figures, and this second set will roll out in May. I expect the Genesect and Mewtwo will be heavy sellers due to their film later this year. Figures are reportedly going for the equivalent of $2, but western pricing (or a release for that matter) isn't 100% confirmed yet.

I'm not a huge fan of the Rumble series, but the toys have me intrigued to see where Nintendo brings the franchise next.

News::Solitaire Blitz review

Popcap’s latest digital narcotic is a particularly potent concoction, building on a game we’ve all idly wasted quiet working hours on with an adorable aquatic theme and a ticking clock to make it extra moreish. Be prepared to spend, however, if you don’t want the hit to wear off quickly.

Suits don’t matter in this variant: any card that’s one higher or lower than the top draw on the build deck can be placed as you try to clear seven stacks. Keys unlock two more build piles, and with your score dependent on how long you maintain a streak, if they’re buried deep in the stack you can instantly kiss goodbye to a high total.

This is where purchasable boosts come in. Explosive barrels blast cards onto the build pile without breaking the combo, while a starfish makes six quick moves, handy given the distraction of your whimpering, wriggling bait as the timer nears zero. Yet the in-game silver rewards for the treasures fished out from under each removed stack are piffling compared to the cost of these assists. It isn’t quite pay-to-win (our current high score came on an astonishingly fortuitous no-boost run) but spending gives you a far better chance of scoring well.

Quick minds and fingers will be rewarded with larger time bonuses, but luck ultimately triumphs over skill. Yet with a poor run so often coinciding with your energy meter running dry, it seems there are darker forces in play than mere fortune. How fitting, then, that the virtue you should need most to enjoy Solitaire Blitz without paying is patience.

Solitaire Blitz is free on the App Store.

Superbot Entertainment has “substantially shrunk down” its studio after its partnership with Sony ended earlier this year. It also confirmed to us that it is working on a new IP.

The Culver City, California studio developed PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale in partnership with Sony, and shipped the title at the end of last year. In February, Sony and Superbot issued a joint statement confirming that the relationship has ended, but on good terms.

It had been suggested to us by one source that the studio was in the process of being closed, but Superbot’s director of operations David Yang said this was not the case. “We have substantially shrunk down our operations but are still going strong while we work on a new IP,” he told us.
