News::Assassins Creed Rogue Review - 8BitChimp

Jordan says, "Assassins Creed: Rogue was a difficult game to review. On one hand, it is the series swan song for the console generation that gave birth to the Templar-Assassin rivalry, and is also one of the more focused stories in the series. On the other hand, it is one of the shortest games in the series, and presents a world that, while beautiful, gives little innovation from what weve seen from previous games."

News::'Far Cry 4' Review |Analog Addiction

Analog Addiction writes, "If it aint broke, dont fix it. That is the motto Ubisoft Montreal took when working on the sequel to 2012s Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4. Better yet, Far Cry 4 takes what worked in its predecessor, and improves on an already great formula to create an open world experience that dares you to try to stay on the beaten path, and watches as you fail miserably."

News::Clearing Out The Sandbox - Are Sandbox Games Overused?

Gaming technology becomes more advanced, complex and more capable with each passing day. The scale and scope in which developers and designers envision their projects becomes ever more ambitious. This isnt necessarily a positive thing. Consoles and modern PCs are capable of generating seemingly endless and absorbing open-worlds, but the majority of sandbox games are increasingly flawed, unpolished and defunct. The problem is that sandboxes have become the industry standard a model for success and replication, mainly due to the continued exploits of Rockstar Games in the genre. Its natural that competitors would want a slice of the pie, but so far theres been little to compare to the craftsmanship and quality of Red Dead Redemption or latest Grand Theft Auto titles. We mustnt forget that ultimately games are products and that certain standards are expected. Its becoming more and more common for sandboxes to be released in an unpolished, untested and careless condition.

News::Review: Sneaky Sneaky - Destructoid

Destructoid: "Stealth is a tricky game mechanic to pull off well. If it is too slow it can be dull, but if it is too fast it is more action than stealth. If it is too predictable it becomes mundane, but if it is too random it requires more reaction than planning. If it is too strict it can be frustrating, but if it is too forgiving then it lacks tension. Sneaky Sneaky is all of the above. At times, it hits all the right notes, providing smart, satisfying stealth puzzles. At others, it is an unfair slog through rooms built around ideas that add variety in theory but are not any fun in practice. In the end, Sneaky Sneaky has some redeeming qualities, but it is just as easily passed on."

News::Prismata - A Sci-FI Strategy Card Game Born at MIT

Marcus Estrada writes: "Prismata is a lot like a card game mixed with a real time strategy game - or even board game. Now, the game actually plays out in turn-based fashion but there's a timer on each player (meaning they can't hum and haw over a move all day). Perhaps the most immediately unique feature though is the fact that there are no predefined decks. At the beginning of every game a pool of units is randomly selected. From there, you use them throughout that game. Beyond this initial burst of randomness there's nothing else left to chance, meaning its up to you to flex those strategic muscles toward victory."
