News::Game Preview: Kerbal Space Program - Blackman 'N Robin

BNR: When it comes to video games, theres a type of frustration that I enjoy- this frustration falls into two categories. The first is common to games like FTL: Faster Than Light- its frustration over things outside of your control. Frustration over the fact that a random event turned you for the worst, and that if you had taken an odd step somewhere earlier, things just might have turned out differently- but there was no way of really knowing. Kerbal Space Program, on the other hand, takes this frustration and turns it upside down. When theres a failure of some sort, of any sort in Kerbal Space Program, its your fault for making a mistake. Its something you can go back, fix, and smile smugly at your screen when your spaceship actually makes it into space.

News::The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Review | GAMINGtruth

Greg Bargas of GAMINGtruth takes on this third-person shooter XCOM experience in this review. "Theres no doubt that XCOM: The Bureau Declassified had huge potential the game raised brows years ago when it was showcased at E3. However, with a broken cover system and shortcomings in the form of true representation of the XCOM experience as a whole, it doesnt make the cut. The amount of detail and scale of the game is magnificent. With that being said, its hard not to feel that the games cover system and other features were built around this already created landscape. There is an unfortunate feeling of empty exploration and linearity to be had in such a beautiful setting. The storyline will hold you over for approximately nine hours, delivering rather lengthy missions. However, you will find the story really straining to iron itself out."

News::Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs Review | IGN

IGN - "Of what I consider to be the two major, equally powerful pillars of horror, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs expertly delivers one. Where something like Outlast plays on real, tangible fears, that of those people and otherworldly things who mean to do us harm, Amnesia seems to psychoanalyze us and prey on the fears and regrets that cause restless nights of sleep. During the course of its six-hour campaign, I was immersed in an ever-growing sense of sheer dread the likes of which few games have ever been able to accomplish."

News::Put it in the penalty box Franchise Hockey Manager 2014 review [Gaming Trend]

Editor Patrick Rost: "Out of the Park Development, the makers of the hallmark management simulation Out of the Park Baseball, have taken their brand of gaming into the world of hockey with the brand new Franchise Hockey Manager 2014. When I reviewed Out of the Park Baseball 14 earlier this year, I was blown away by the games insane levels of customization and control within the realm of sports management. Naturally, I was excited to get my hands on a similar experience in a different sport, believing that it would yield the same great, enveloping experience that its baseball counterpart had. After many frustrating days of silly problems and a completely boring game simulation, Franchise Hockey Manager 2014 has proven to be an inferior product to its more established counterpart."

News::Infinity Blade III hits the App Store on September 18

I quite liked Infinity Blade, and that's coming as someone who infrequently plays iOS games. Granted, I completely missed out on the sequel, but the platform-appropriate controls and impressive visuals may pull me back in now that a sufficient amount of time has passed. Announced today in line with Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 5S, Infinity Blade III will release on the App Store September 18, 2013 for $6.99.

Before you start to think otherwise, yes, this universal app is going to be compatible with more than just the new phone. The list of support devices is as follows: iPhone (5S, 5C, 4S, 4), iPad (4, 3, 2, mini), and iPod touch (5 and 4). Infinity Blade III marks the series' conclusion, according to developer ChAIR, and lets you play as either Siris or the more stealth-centric Isa. There's also a base of operations called The Hideout which is where you can recruit allies and determine where next to venture on the world map.

It's wild to think about how successful Infinity Blade has been for Epic Games. There are even books -- written by Brandon Sanderson, no less! My goodness.

News::Rayman Legends (Wii U, PS3, 360, PC, Vita) Review | SuperPhillip Central

"Originally planned to be a Wii U exclusive, Rayman Legends was delayed from its late February release date and given an August (for Europe) and September (for North America) one. The purpose of this delay was to make the game multiplatform. This decision was made after Ubisoft's biggest exclusive launch title for the Wii U, ZombiU, sold horribly to the system's user base. Whether or not that decision was smart is up in the air. Regardless, as a lover of platformers, I finally got my hands on Rayman Legends, and it certainly lived up to my personal hype."

News::Klei launches paid alpha build of Incognita

Klei Entertainment has opened pre-orders for its work-in-progress tactical espionage game Incognita . $16.99 gets you immediate access to the current alpha, future alpha and beta builds, and the final game when it releases in 2014. Plus, a copy for a friend. I freakin' love when they do that. The final price will be $19.99, so paying early saves you 15 percent.

"What the game will look like in this state is a single (randomly generated) level, with a few agents and little to no progression," writes the company. "The current Alpha build has most of our core tactical and strategic systems, as well as our engine, UI, procedural generation and so on, but is missing some major progression systems and missing most of our content, which will be developed as we get further along in the process. We do have a timeline for some of these features, so we'll share that with you when we can."

I missed my chance to try Incognita at PAX Prime 2013, and while I do want to give this a shot, it's less up my alley than, say, Don't Starve . I think I can wait it out a bit as Klei adds additional features and tightens up the experience before jumping in. Still looks wonderful, though.
