News::Batman: Arkham Origins Review - Glitch Cat

Glitch Cat - Batman: Arkham Origins is not a bad game, its far from it. Its just that this is the same game youve played twice before. Gameplay has remained relatively unchanged, and while thats not terrible, I wouldve have liked to see more innovation in this latest entry. Invisible Predator Online is a step in the right direction, but its too little to make this title feel excellent. Origins is a solid game that feels more like an expansion than anything else.

News::OXCGNs FIFA14 Review

OXCGN: With next-gen consoles on the horizon and a brand new engine amply titled IGNITE which will power future EA sports titles, Im not surprised that FIFA14 looks and feels like FIFA13. Its more of a refinement in the sense that, button configuration and various core gameplay enhancements have been made. With real ball physics, the ball feels as if it has more weight, it moves according to the velocity of a shot and how it comes off a players boot. This allows for greater unpredictability within the game and works wonders when coupled with the new Pure Shot system.

News::Battlefield 4 Review | Analog Addiction

Analog Addiction writes: "If it aint broke, dont fix it. When developing Battlefield 4, DICE has taken this cliché as its motto it has kept what worked from Battlefield 3, changed what required fixing, and added a splash of innovation, too. Whats come out of this concoction is a shooter that is as amazing to look at, as it is to play in most cases. Lets get the bad news out of the way; Battlefield 4s single player campaign is borderline mediocre. The narrative attempts to tell a story about a squad who is put through the wringer, just trying to survive. When you think everything is going to be alright, another disaster occurs. Eventually, it becomes all too predictable."

News::PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures Review | Capsule Computers

Joe Morgan of Capsule Computers writes, "Pac-Man is arguably one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. Armed with that knowledge, Namco Bandai has tried to keep him relevant for over thirty years. With a popular childrens television show, the pellet-munching, ghost-crunching maze adventurer once again takes the stage in a fight against ghosts, but with a few new faces and powers only fans of the show would know. How does PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures hold up? Is he still the go-to ghost buster or should he have stayed in the past?"

News::Valve buys mysterious Steam Static domain

Its been more than a month since Valve officially announced its Steam gaming machines. Though the Steam Machine isnt scheduled to be launched until 2014, more details continue to emerge with a first look at Valves Steam Machine prototype being revealed this past week. To make things a bit more interesting, Valve has registered the domain name SteamStatic.com. The name was privately registered through Network Solutions earlier this month, but the WHOIS record clearly shows Valve Corporation as the registrant. The only information that is marked private is contact information like the email address.

Gaming Union: "Ive said a lot of great things about the most recent Call of Duty title, all of which were oriented around the multiplayer tweaks and additional co-op modes. But Ghosts does have a single player mode that Ive somewhat neglected to speak of, and if youve played it (intentionally or otherwise) you may already know where Im going with this weeks rant. The games industry today is abuzz with talk of the next generation of gaming. With the WiiU already with us, the Playstation 4 having been announced a while ago and, by the time you read this, Microsoft being about to or having just announced the next Xbox unit, you cant move around the gaming web without coming across some sort of discussion about the next gen. This is only to be expected of course; its an exciting time of promise and optimism, the culmination of one gaming era and the cusp of yet another; one which seems set to bring unprecedented gaming experiences. The gaming community is nothing if not willing to voice its varied opinions, so its unsurprising that there are as many views on offer as there are voices or keyboards with which to express them.

Digibytes.me: Call of Duty: Ghosts is the lowest point in the Call of Duty series. The campaign is clichéd and uninspired, but there is fun to be found in the multiplayer despite some problems. News::The Highs and Lows of Call of Duty: Ghosts Single Player

Dealspwn writes: Infinity Wards latest shooter, Call of Duty: Ghosts, hit the shelves this week and has again proved a big success, although not to the same degree as previous titles. Theres been a drop in sales, albeit one which could be explained by players waiting for next-gen versions later this month. The critical reception has taken a hit too though as the series dips into the dreaded yellow zone on Metacritic with a current average of 75 instead of the usual 80-90 range. Our very own Mr. Lester gave the game a 6/10 rating. Much of the criticism has been aimed at the games single player element, which is surprising, given that Infinity Ward should know what theyre doing by now. Have they become lazy? Are we expecting too much? Have our tastes changed? Or do we just want to get on with the multiplayer? Well, today lets tackle the single player side of Ghosts, by looking at whats strong and whats wrong with it.
