News::The excellently named Royale With Cheese bundle is live now

To be honest, I probably wouldn't post about this Indie Royale deal if it weren't for the name. Indie Royale recently held a contest with Joystiq to let one of its community members name the next bundle, and the winner came up with The Royale with Cheese bundle, a reference to a well-known bit of dialogue in Pulp Fiction.

Like a fast food burger though, it might not satisfy all tastes. The bundle's made up of Continue?9876543210, Cognition Episode 3: The Oracle, Yelaxot, Rogue's Tale, and Too Many Me. Patrick reviewed Continue , and he wasn't a big fan, but maybe others will be able to squeeze more enjoyment out of it.

The package is pay what you want, but the current minimum price is $4.61. Those that pledge $6 or more get a bonus album from Mikal kHill called "corrupted arkHive." I pledge to never forget this kickass bundle name.

It's no secret that female characters are portrayed in a different way than their male counterparts are in comic art. But in a medium where superhero costumes are already so silly, why do we care so much about how our lady heroes dress?

8 Movie Superheroes Who Need To Return To Their Comic Book Roots

That's all well and good — but we'd really love to see some other superheroes reconnect with their roots in the movies. Here are eight superheroes who'd be more interesting if they were closer to their earlier comic-book versions.

News::Killing Floor 2 will hopefully be just as gory as I want it to be

Tripwire Interactive's first look at Killing Floor 2 unfolds just as you'd expect it to: a gaggle of "zed," the feral genetic freakshows populating the second entry into the visceral series, are scattered throughout the smoldering carcass of what was once Paris, ravenous for human flesh. They're starved for entrails, and they don't care how or where they get it. As PC Gamer's exclusive preview recounts, they're easily eviscerated by a hale of gunfire as they emerge from a manhole in the middle of the obliterated city. Guts are strewn across the city of lights, and Tripwire revels in the bout of gory goodness they have wrought.

Bill Munk, creative director and senior animator at Tripwire, seeks to make Killing Floor 2 as "sick as possible," especially given the fact that this is the first time Tripwire has been able to develop a game from scratch with a sufficient team and budget.

It appears that a good portion of that budget has gone toward the creation of the "MEAT" system (Massive Evisceration and Trauma), the beautifully over-the-top gore system Tripwire prides themselves on. From the sneak peeks afforded to us, it looks excellent, straight from the pages, as Tripwire notes, from Soldier of Fortune's fantastic GHOUL system.

The deliciously disturbing MEAT system allows for extremely detailed dismemberments straight out of my fever dreams, even if the zed themselves rock some painfully boring character models -- they're run-of-the-mill "mutants" I've seen time and time again in much gorier horror movies, so I'll glean an obscene amount of pleasure from ripping them apart, even if they're not exactly the most original-looking creatures I've ever seen in a cooperative shooter.

News::Sunset Overdrive gameplay video gives some context to the insanity

Confused as to what Sunset Overdrive 's about? You wouldn't be alone. Up until now, all we've gotten is a stylish teaser at E3 and a slow trickle of nebulous marketing materials.

But, this video finally gives us something concrete. It sheds some light on the story, different factions around the city, some enemies, the respawn system , and introduces a few of the weapons. Most importantly, it shows the game in action. It's crazy how excited I'll get for a game if it's colorful and actually looks cool. Take note, developers!

News::Never Alone tells a tale of a native Alaskan girl and her arctic fox friend

When people lament the lack of diversity in videogame characters, one argument that always seems to crop up is that those who point out the disparity should have the sole responsibility of remedying it. Despite the fallacy of that argument, it seems like Upper One Games is doing just that with Never Alone (or Kisima Inŋitchuŋa in Iñupiat), which aims to represent the culture of the native Alaskan tribe without using harmful or dated stereotypes.

Never Alone is a puzzle platformer starring an Iñupiaq girl named Nuna and her arctic fox sidekick. It can be played as either a two-player cooperative experience or solo with the player switching between the two roles at will. From a pure gameplay perspective, it looks fairly standard, but as a use of the medium to share culture with an otherwise ignorant audience (and I include myself in that), it could be very special.

If the fox dies at the end I will not forgive the developers.

News::Here's a REAL SoulCalibur Unbreakable Soul trailer

I was and still am in love with the entire day of April 23, 2014. That was the day that lots of my peers ran a fake SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul Trailer as a real, legit Namco Bandai release. When I saw it I ran to make a cup of tea, sat back at my desk, and watched social networks freak out over the game's faked "adventure mode" scenes. Kids these days!

Does not say anything.

The above video? It's real. It's the trailer for the very real 3D fighting mobile game SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul. The video shows the game's card deck/weapon system, plenty of gameplay, and lots of sword clashing.

This game it out today on the Apple app Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. My soul burns to try it out today. I'll let you know what I think.
