News::Ride to Hell: Retribution - Review | G4MERS

G4MERS: "Ride to Hell: Retribution on the road through hell. Without a doubt the worst game of what came to my face. No pain to admit that I have not finished it - I'm not a masochist, so my visual and auditory receptors condemn such condemnation."

News::Review: Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded | Boss Dungeon

Boss Dungeon: In the end I can not recommend Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded. Replay Games have expressed will in remaking the rest of the series, but they need to show that they can do a far better job than they have here for me to be interested. If you want to play a good Larry game, buy the original series collection on GOG/Steam and play some Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail!, if you want a nice HD point and click adventure remake to scratch your nostalgia itch, just pick up the Monkey Island: Special Edition Collection instead. Theres just no reason to play Reloaded unless youre a long-time Larry fan who feel the need to have played everything in the series. And if you are, at least the game is faaar better than Leisuire Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.

News::WC - The Walking Dead: 400 Days Review

WC - Last year Telltale Games took the gaming industry by storm captivating everyone with their episodic downloadable spinoff of the acclaimed Walking Dead franchise. The game was showered with countless Game of the Year awards and is considered to be another pioneering offering in a medium that is continuously and rapidly maturing. While following its lore mostly from the comics rather than AMCs smashingly successful TV adaptation, the game was actually considered to be more sharply written and gripping than the aforementioned show. Telltale Games ended the game on a cliffhanger but soon after would announce a Season 2. 400 Days isnt the beginning of that season but rather a means of bridging Season 1 to 2.

Whenever theres a Steam sale, theres usually a few games that are tucked away in a corner somewhere that have no advertising. Even though most of these arent big enough to be featured on the main page, they are still gems that should be bought up. Weve compiled a list of games that we feel either deserve to be purchased and is an incredible value. The rule is that it has to be at least 70% off, otherwise theres a chance it will drop in price again before the sale ends.

News::Assassins Creed 4: One Gamers Opinion

Gi - Let me start of by saying I love the Assassins Creed franchise. I love it to death. I even discovered a new syndrome when I played the first two games in the franchise back to back in a four day period. I called this syndrome I can climb anything and stuff. Ok, I admit I am not good at naming things but basically what I was doing was walking around my house, my school and the rest of the place looking at various places I could climb and sync viewpoints. Of course I believe there is a law against climbing random buildings so I refrained. Thats how good I thought the first two games were, especially the second one.

News::RePlayed: Alan Wake

GodisaGeek: "Fear of the dark is often considered a childhood phobia, a malaise that torments adolescents with night terrors and the tricks of the mind and imagination. As we grow, we leave it behind with our other childhood baggage, our action figures and dolls and Saturday morning cartoons. However, those unlucky enough to carry such a fear into adulthood perhaps as a result of some horrific trauma can find it debilitating. Not being able to function without a light on is frightening enough when youre a child swaddled in your Transformers quilt set; when youre an adult, and such an irrational phobia is magnified by the rational fear of the very real threats of the world we live in, it can be horrific. Alan Wake, a psychological horror from Finnish developers Remedy, deals with the darkness. Not only the fear of it and what it may hide, but a fantastical view of it as a sentient, patient antagonist that hounds our beleaguered hero throughout the game."

For all of the innovations that the Role Playing Game genre has experienced in the last half decade, there are some things that have remained virtually unchanged. Battles are usually slow paced and have to be approached tactically while stories generally involve the protagonist and his/her allies facing insurmountable odds in a quest to save their world. Biowares latest RPG, Dragon Age II has taken its own path to RPG-dom and bucks some classic RPG tropes in an attempt to tell a different kind of story and provide a faster and fiercer combat experience.

Skyward Collapse was a pleasant surprise for me. Much as I enjoy strategy games, I've never taken the time to try out a god game. For the uninitiated, a god game let's players control an entire world from the position of a divine entity, and typically involve plenty of micro-management. Skyward Collapse, the god game I played, puts you in the position of a great creator, responsible for keeping the world beneath you in balance. Your objective is to encourage war between a pair of factions without allowing them to wipe each other out.
