News::To Leave is one of the neatest games I played during GDC

GDC is full of neat games. There are sentai management sims. Body building cats. Hyper Light Drifter . But one of the neatest games I played during GDC is To Leave, which creative director Estefano Palacios says is the first indie game out of Ecuador. It's definitely the first one coming to PS4 and Vita. (Incidentally, check out the promoted cblog from last year, Gaming in Latin America).

Sony discovered the 12 person team's game as part of its Latin America, Incubation Program and has been "instrumental" in getting it exposure, flying Palacios out to GDC to rep the game, and technology, giving the team dev kits.

Palacios discovered me, hustling to take advantage of his good fortune, while I shambled, eyes glazed over, trying to remember where I was going and where I had been. I'm glad he did, because chatting with him and playing To Leave perked me right up.

GR-UK writes: "We've missed turn-based combat that keeps us on our toes, and packaged as it is with a beautiful watercolour world, enchanting soundtrack and that bafflingly large gameplay time (for a digital title, we thought it'd be half the expected ten hours at best), the end of April will see us happily part with the ten or so quid to see this adventure through."

News::Child of Light is a return to classic JRPG wonder

Last year, the news of Ubisoft making an old-school throwback to the JRPG genre took a number of people by surprise. When Destructoid got the chance to check it out, there was a healthy amount of curiosity around it. Not too many people knew what to make of it, especially considering it was coming from the team that made Far Cry 3, which is a title that seems very far apart from it.

But after spending some time with Child of Light, about three hours to be exact, there might more in common with these two titles than you think. I got the chance to talk with lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem, and saw what passion and a small team working on a unique throwback to JRPG titles managed to come up with.

News::MachineGames Wolfenstein: The New Order is as surprising as it is bombastic - Edge

Edge : "As we begin our time with the opening three chapters of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the last game wed ever expect to compare it to is The Last Of Us. And almost from the start were dual-wielding machine guns and fending off Nazi-branded robotic quadrupeds no surprises there. Yet while the tone throughout is more Inglourious Basterds than The Pianist, in terms of character development, believable humanity and sheer pathos, MachineGames appears to be squaring up to Naughty Dog. This is even more surprising given that protagonist BJ Blazkowicz, a man whose neck is wider than his already sizeable jaw, has previously acted as little more than a graphene-thin cipher in a series increasingly synonymous with unremarkable and outdated design. But when, during a meal with a Polish couple whose granddaughter he has just rescued, Blazkowicz discovers that its 1960 14 years after the botched operation that landed him in an asylum with a head injury and that the Nazis won t...

News::Review: YAIBA: Ninja Gaiden Z (New Gamer Nation)

The beauty of the Ninja Gaiden series has always been a punishing, memorization-based, highly rewarding system of combat. Players often pulled their hair out, smashed a few controllers and cursed the gods that be, only to get back in and teach that boss a thing or two. This risk and reward system may have excluded some from sticking with the series, but also battle-hardened its fan base and made them even bigger fans of the series. Fast-forward to today, and the series released a spin-off featuring Yaiba, the cyborg-ninja. While this spin-off maintains the hack-and-slash action youve grown accustom to, there are a lot of changes, and even a departure from what made the series great in the first place, which some fans may find difficult to accept.

News::$740 Mid-Range Gaming PC Build for EverQuest Next: Landmark - April, 2014

GamersNexus: "The first bit of related content, as is usually the case for us, is a mid-range gaming PC build that's spec'd for EverQuest Next: Landmark at near-max (high) settings. You could certainly build a cheaper AMD system (keep eyes open for that), but this one will get you running EQNL at high (or thereabouts) settings and still provide room for high graphics output with more demanding titles. News::Ridley Scott attached to a Halo live-action project

There's a Halo movie in the works. Yes, another one.

This one is sees Ridley Scott as executive producer, with Battlestar Galactica director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan on board as well. The series is expect to follow the same format as what Machinima did with Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn , but this will be following a surgically-enhanced super soldier that's not Master Chief.

We'll be learning more about whatever this is at E3. And this is totally different than whatever it is that Steven Spielberg is working on too.

I am ALL for anything Halo, but the more we hear about stuff like this, the more I fear we're not actually going to get Halo 5 this year. Instead it's just filler until the next entry in the series finally arrives. I hope I'm totally wrong.
