News::Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments looks sweet

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is the seventh installment in the Sherlock Holmes series from Frogwares development studio, and so far it's looking pretty stellar. Crimes and Punishments holds many firsts for the series, the main one being that players get to truly experience being Sherlock Holmes as they navigate through crime scenes and investigations. This is also the first time Frogwares has transitioned from their homegrown engine to Unreal Engine 3, and it shows.

News::Infinity Ward: "[We've] been trying to make movies you get to play" - AusGamers

AusGamers caught up with Infinity Ward veteran, Mark Reuben, who talked openly about many aspects of the series from over the years, including their narrative philosophy and player handholding. "My overall feeling on that is I hope we dont," Reuben said of giving players more autonomy. "And Ill give you the reason why: I play a lot of different games, I mean if I see it on Steam I pretty much buy it -- Im playing Gun Point right now, its fricking awesome -- and its its thing and there are a lot of other games that do its thing and if everyone started to follow [that] direction one way or the other, I would be very disappointed because then all the games would be copying themselves. So we as a franchise have always been trying to make movies that you get to play..."

News::Warner Montreal on Arkham Origins: "[We] hope when you play the game, youll love it" - AusGamers

AusGamers has interviewed Warner Bros. Montreal's Eric Holmes, creative director on Batman: Arkham Origins, who talks candidly about their choice of voice-actors, as well as much more. "Our characters are younger. Theyre less formed than the other versions of the characters youve seen in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Getting that youthful energy, and unformed nature of those characters, led us to recasting those characters. So really, we wanted to get the best possible characters we could, and we went through an exhaustive casting campaign --not just to get the best actors we could, but to get people who sound like Kevin, to get people that can give a performance like Mark, but also have that edge of youthfulness. So you wont find anyone more respectful of their work than this team; than those actors too. I know that they love their performance, but theyre bringing something of their own to it as well. So I think ultimately... I understand people are passionate about Kevi...

News::It's Deadfall Adventures Time!

Deadfall Adventures may seem like an Indiana Jones or Uncharted rip-off, however the game is doing the exact opposite: it is engrained in the roots of the original inspiration for these "dudes adventuring in Mayan settings and stuff" stories, the Allan Quatermain series by Sir Henry Rider Haggard. In fact, quotes and themes from the original novel are actually woven throughout the game.

News::The Crew's open world multiplayer in action on a triple screen at E3 - Team VVV

VVV:"We've got some more gameplay action from The Crew's triple screen setup at E3, this time focusing on a team-based multiplayer match where the objective is to track down and take out an enemy Hummer. Suffice to say, the random player we recorded could probably do with some driving game lessons and spends the majority of the time getting lost. Nevertheless, it's clear that The Crew's online multiplayer has some serious potential, particularly when you consider the opportunities for exploration and larking about the vast open world will provide."

News::PS4's DC Universe Online, PlanetSide 2 won't need PS Plus

As amazing as the PS4 conference was, Sony was able to sneak in a tiny little detail: online play is now locked behind PlayStation Plus. A bit of a bummer for people who saw free online as a big selling point for PS3 over 360, but Plus is rich enough that you may not mind it all that much.

However, there is an asterisk next that new requirement stating that some games will be playable online without a Plus account. Two such games are the free-to-play MMOs DC Universe Online and PlanetSide 2, scheduled to release on the PS4 some time during the launch window. Both games will also be cross-compatible with their PC counterparts, although the PS3 version of DC will sadly continue to be locked to its own platform because of hardware differences.

Superhero brawling on one side, continent-spanning FPS action on the other, all truly free-to-play on Sony's new wonder box and playing nice with the PC crowd. Ball's in your court, Microsoft.

News::Wargaming CEO is excited for World of Tanks on Xbox 360

A familiar site at every E3 for the past few years has been a giant tank sitting just outside West Hall of the LA Convention Center. Wargaming has been constantly promoting its free-to-play tank shooter World of Tanks, and the strategy has paid off big time.

As Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi explained to me, the entire Wargaming staff numbered only 60 people four and a half years ago. Jump to today, Wargaming is 1000+ employees strong, spread across 15 headquarters throughout the world, and with a World of Tanks user base of roughly 60 million! Kislyi pointed out that, according to the Harvard Business Review, doubling the size of your company on a yearly basis is typically not a good thing. He is happy to demonstrate that Wargaming has been doing exactly what others say it shouldn't and being mad successful at it.

Wargaming is bringing World of Tanks to the Xbox 360 this summer, and it's currently inviting people into open beta. Kislyi is excited about introducing one of the first free-to-play XBLA games. Nonetheless, the company isn't forgetting about its PC players and will continue to serve them with two upcoming titles: World of Planes and World of Warships.

News::Battlefield 4 Carrying Stats and Unlocks From Current- to Next-Gen Consoles Is Being Discussed

MP1st - With the uncertainty of exact release dates for Microsoft and Sony's next-generation of gaming consoles, many hardcore console gamers are forced to consider purchasing their favorite AAA blockbuster hits like Call of Duty or Battlefield twice this fall: once for either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and then once again at a later date for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
