Typical, you wait an age for a management sim set in space, then two come along at the same time. I literally only bought Double Fine's Spacebase DF-9 about 24 hours ago and now up pops Maia . Just like Double Fine's effort, Maia puts you in charge of a colony in outer space, only this time you're actually on an alien world, not just floating in space.
The game looks to have a slight retro-futuristic vibe happening, influences like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Silent Running, and that's referenced on the Steam store page. There's also a influences from the likes of Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital so that's right up my alley too.
Developer Simon Roth is hoping to put out weekly updates which is a great way of showing support for your game. He's already advertising "genetically engineered super chickens" are in the game with "sassy computers" and "cats in bee suits to follow." Sounds great to me.
