Of all the Star Wars movies ever (even the prequels), I think my excitement level has been least for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Amid the directing controversy, acting controversy, and general question of why it is even a thing, it's been challenging to get hyped up for this one at all. So when I say that this new trailer for the movie, which finally shows off a bit more than teases of Han Solo and Chewie, isn't crappy, that actually means a lot.
Look, I'm still not convinced this will be good, but I love westerns, and I love train heists and this is very clearly a movie that is both of those things, but with lasers. Science Fiction and westerns have a long and fantastic history together, and Ron Howard isn't a bad director so... maybe this will be fun. Maybe?
Maybe not. I'm still not behind Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo at all. Man, does he look like a guy desperately trying to do a Harrison Ford impersonation. Considering the fact that a lot of this movie is going to rest on his performance my small sliver of enthusiasm looks to be crushed pretty quickly.
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters May 25, 2018.
