News:: Your free trial of 'Destructoid' has ended, please pay your Internet provider MOAR

Another year, another group of dangerous idiots trying to mess up the Internet. This year, it's back with fake consumer outrage! We have 3 weeks to set this right again - please join the http://ift.tt/1kpJiCj. I'm bumping my semi-annual outrage post.

Net Neutrality is a fancy word that muffles what's really going on: Cable Operators want to charge consumers more money to access the open Internet. Nobody is spending that much money to lobby congress because they want to improve your internet service. It is a straight-up lie to your face.

Imagine your Internet coming in "packages" that limit your access to Facebook and YouTube unless you pony up more. It sets up a dangerous stage for small businesses to lose the ability to come in and build better services that compete with those sites.

Our own government is complacent with this shit: The FCC wants to destroy net neutrality and give big cable companies control over what we see and do online. If they get their way, they’ll allow widespread throttling, blocking, censorship, and extra fees. As a site operator, I care because it puts Destructoid in grave danger if I have to ask people to pay a newsstand price for access (and that money wouldn't even reach the editorial team, the ISP might want a cut). The whole thing is horrible for every small site you love, and makes it much harder for newer competitors to come in.

I forgot to mention - they want to tax people at both ends of the pipe.  Even if you pay for the fastest internet possible if that website doesn't pay for "the fast lane" your connection to them can suffer.  You can see why they're in love with this idea.

We're going to continue to hear about this year after year because it represents a huge amount of new revenue for cable and internet companies if they force this thing up our asses. Don't let them get away with it!

It takes like two minutes to sign this petition, please get involved!
