These days, the game you buy at launch may not be the game you have months or years after release. For multiplayer titles, this is almost to be expected, even before the internet was something everyone had access to, you had fighting games with iterations and updates.
Street Fighter II came out in the early 90s, without Cammy or Fei Long, yet these days no one would really call it Street Fighter II without them thanks to Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers and then Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Turbo HD Remix and now Ultra Street Fighter II.
