Over the past four-and-a-half years, Telltale has been on a mission to make games with its unique style of storytelling that are based on any sort of popular franchise. From The Walking Dead to Game of Thrones to Minecraft -- Telltale will seemingly try to partner with anyone if the appeal is broad enough.
One of its next projects looks to go hand-in-hand with a piece of media that will have some of the most mass appeal: A blockbuster comic book movie. As reported by USGamer, the recent SAG-AFTRA voice actors' strike lists Guardians of the Galaxy as one of the titles its not striking against. It's placed right next to The Walking Dead: Season 3, and both games are named under O'Farrell Enterprises which is the production company that handles a lot of the voice over for Telltale.
This reveal falls right in line with a report from April 2015 that Telltale inked a deal with Marvel to create a game based on one of its properties. That project was said to be scheduled for 2017. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releases on May 5, 2017. Everything lines up perfectly.
