In a Black Tusk Studios livestream, studio manager Rod Fergusson answered community questions about the next Gears of War which is, unsurprisingly, still far off at this point.
"It's only been a hundred days so I can't go into a lot of depth into a lot of things," said Fergusson, "so this isn't going to be the place where I'm going to announce the name of the next game or all these sorts of things. I mean, obviously it's going to take some time to get to a point where we can do stuff like that ... We are in what we would call the concept/prototype phase."
Asked about advantages of working on the series with a new team, he said "I think one of the things that's really great is we've got the backing and support of Microsoft which means we're able to push a lot harder in a lot of bigger areas. I think the franchise can do a lot more now that Microsoft owns the IP, we can expand its breadth and do a lot more stuff with it."
