Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai has proposed that his fellow executives should give up their bonuses, after another disappointing year at the tech giant.
The Sony board has backed the proposal, reports Bloomberg, meaning that around 40 executives will return their bonuses, worth 30 to 50 per cent of their salary.
Bloomberg adds that Sony reported its first annual net profit in five years last week, thanks to asset sales and a weaker yen, but continues to make losses in its TV and mobile phone businesses. Games, in particular PS4, are considered to be central to the company’s future, alongside cameras and mobile devices.
