News::People actually like the Maverick Hunter reboot concept

Some time ago, we learned off a rather odd project from Capcom -- a gritty Mega Man X FPS idea that never saw the light of day. Yep, Keiji Inafune gave Retro Studios the idea to re-imagine Mega Man similar to Metroid Prime, but the concept never got past the greenlight stage. It seems as if a number of fans aren't giving up hope, as an "Operation Maverick Hunter" fan page has opened on Facebook, alongside of a fan-led petition.

I have no real opinion on the game even as a massive Mega Man fan, as I don't particularly like dumping on things we have no real information for. I'm not sure Mega Man really needed a "gritty reboot," but if the game was good, I would have enjoyed it for what it was. I mean hey, it worked out for Metroid Prime. At this point, I think people are just hungry for a new Mega Man game and will take anything.
