News::Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition headed to retail

Minecraft will be released as a boxed product on Xbox 360, Microsoft has confirmed. It’ll arrive on April 30th in the US for $19.99, and then early June in Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan. There’s no word on a UK or EU release yet, but we have contacted Microsoft for details.

The retail edition is identical to the version available now on XBLA, and supports multiplayer connectivity between the boxed and digital versions. The retail disc version will receive all the same content and feature updates as the digital version through Xbox Live.

We recently reported that Mojang will consider releasing Minecraft on PlayStation when its timed exclusivity deal with Microsoft ends, but a Wii U version remains unlikely.
