News:: Pokemon Go celebrates 750 million downloads with an anniversary event

Pokemon Go seems unfazed by the dropoff in users, as they've just hit 750 million downloads in total in this past year.

To kick off their anniversary they're holding yet another in-game event themed after the solstice, which will grant XP bonuses for stylish throws, a higher encounter rate for fire and ice Pokemon, and a discount on Lucky Eggs by 50%. Other real life events are planned, like "Pikachu Outbreak," which is coming to Japan this year, and the first Pokémon GO Fest, which will be held in Chicago's Grant Park on July 22 (tickets go on sale here on June 19 at 10:00 A.M. PT).

I'm still waiting for basically everything Niantic advertised in its first trailer to arrive (battles, trades), but when they do I'll start to play again. We may even get battles as soon as this summer -- but given that we still don't have a date on the legendary summer Pokemon event, everything is still up in the air.
