DiRT 4 is still on track for a summer release, Codemasters has let us know. Along with the first "gameplay" trailer below, they have confirmed that June 6 will be race day. The game is speeding to PC, PS4 and Xbox One for $59.99 and it doesn't look like Gymkhana is in sight at all!
Some of the new features for DiRT 4 include "Gamer" and "Simulation" handling models, the "DiRT Academy" training mode and the "Your Stage" procedural track generation system. That should provide tons of hours of entertainment, especially since the soundtrack features the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Sigma, The Amazons, The Chemical Brothers and Disclosure.
The car highlights include a Subaru WRX STI NR4 (my favorite), Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 and a Ford Fiesta R5. The game will include over 50 vehicles, so there is bound to be something to please you. You'll be racing in Australia, Michigan, Wales, Sweden and Spain with iconic tracks Montalegre, Holjes, Lydden Hill and Hell (which is a real place in Norway, I'm told.).
I feel super dirty writing all that PR info. Still, I am a fan of DiRT and actually really enjoyed 3, even if Gymkhana comprised something like 30% of the campaign mode. If we can get something along the lines of DiRT Rally, then I'll be even more pleased with 4.
