News::The next generation of Xbox Live avatars may be upon us

Miis were introduced in 2006, but Microsoft cleverly got on the bandwagon in 2008 with Xbox Live avatars. Although they weren't as cute, they were far more customizable -- and of course more profitable as the publisher sold tons of accessories for them, including Destructoid merch!

We may be approaching an avatar overhaul according to a recent job listing from Microsoft, which proposes to take "Xbox avatars to the next level." The listing is calling for improvements to the entire Xbox network, including the desktop, tablet, mobile, and console arenas.

My guess is the first order of business is to improve the whole system on Xbox One, which is basically just a gimped version of the 360 avatar editor.
