More twin-stick shooters, particularly ones releasing for PS Vita, are a terrific thing to see. 2011's Scoregasm returns this year with a sequel of sorts, Son of Scoregasm , that "in essence is a refinement of that game, taking the best bits and improving the rest." It'll be out first on Vita, with Windows, Mac, and Linux versions to follow in the coming months.
If you're wondering about the pulse attack used to clear bullets in the footage above, here's the interesting part: it can turn enemies into multiplier tokens. But if you wipe out too many foes with your pulse blast, there won't be anything left to shoot for points. Interesting design.
Having never played the original Scoregasm, I'm liking the look of this new version. Reading up on Charlie's Games also brought me back to an older project, Space Phallus , a shoot-'em-up about a disembodied head of a dog fighting an army of "evil space penises." Hahaha.
