News::Size Five Games reluctantly drops Gun Monkeys price, adds in free copy for a friend

Size Five Games has reluctantly dropped the price of its latest release Gun Monkeys after just one month on sale, citing the need to keep the multiplayer-only game’s servers busy.

Despite generally positive Gun Monkeys reviews, Size Five’s Dan Marshall has said that the studio simply hasn’t sold enough copies of the game, and players are struggling to find opponents in the one-on-one shooter.

“It’s something I’m doing extremely reluctantly, because I don’t want to devalue the game, I 100 per cent think it was worth $10,” said Marshall. “But I’ve come to the conclusion that the game’s multiplayer-only concept is a tough sell, so a pricing change is a necessary evil. It’s just not fair on the people who are playing and enjoying the game that they’re struggling to find people to play, so I’m doing everything in my power to remedy that.”

The newly-priced game also comes with a free key to gift to a friend so that Gun Monkeys owners always have someone to play against.

“You really do have to sell hyper-lots of copies in order for the servers to have anyone in them, triply so if you’re trying to get a game at 4am,” added Marshall. “This is a fact I now know that I didn’t really appreciate before.”

Gun Monkeys is out now on Windows and Mac for $5.99/£3.99. A Linux build is in the works, too.
