TechCrunch caught wind of Google's recent move to bring on Noah Falstein as their newly appointed chief game designer. Who is Noah, you ask? He's been in the industry since the 1980s and in that time he's worked at Williams Electronics on Sinistar, LucasArts on a number of projects, the 3DO company, and much more.
While Google welcomes and supports games on their Android platforms, the company themselves aren't known for developing games. Granted Google did just release that real-time augmented reality MMO called Ingress . And sometimes they do those special Google logos that are playable but that probably doesn't really count.
So what does this move mean? No one really knows, but Google I/O is happening in San Francisco on May 15 so maybe we'll be hearing more about what all this means very soon.
