Hit-Reset.co.uk's Gavin Robertson writes... "Nostalgia is a powerful weapon in gaming, and if wielded correctly can bring both kudos and cash in to a developer. Indie developer Nicolas Cannasse seized on this concept when building Evoland for a Ludum Dare competition last year. Ludum Dare is a community of designers who make games quickly, usually over a single weekend, based on a concept suggested by the community. Cannasses efforts won him first prize, alongside a ton of praise for the idea, so he set about fleshing the idea out with his studio, Shiro Games. The result is a fantastically cute title, steeped in nostalgic charm, that will surely resonate with a very specific slice of gamers."
