There's nothing wrong with a game that innovates. There's everything wrong with a game that goes out of its way to innovate without reason.
Like any tool, innovation is neither good nor bad, and it has its specific uses. However, some developers bang on about it like it's a magical cure for every ill in the industry. It doesn't matter if the game's good or not, to hear some of them speak, only that it innovates. What rot.
