There is no denying the mass appeal that the Final Fantasy series holds for gamers nor its impact upon video gaming. The solid legacy of the franchise helped propel the massive hype that surrounded the launch of the Final Fantasy 14 mmorpg back in 2010. To say that the game underperformed would be a massive understatement. The game bombed due to a host of reasons, and eventually Square Enix took the unprecedented action of closing down the game in order to do a total revamp before re-releasing it as Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. The game has now become a success to the extent that the company cited it as the reason for the company's stability in one of their recent financial reports.
