Rhys from Awesome Games writes: 'The Risen series has, thus far, been an unfortunate exercise in mediocrity. Its quite sad because its setting and worlds often have a ton of potential, but each game has smacked of rushing to meet a deadline that it never really seems to hit its stride. Though while the first game is at least somewhat enjoyable and managed to gain a strong cult following, its sequel, Dark Waters, just lacked the same kind of gusto that made the series so promising.'
